The Hero with a Thousand Faces by Joseph Campbell talks about how the hero goes through stages throughout the book. I agree that he makes a good argument about the hero going through stages because the first chapter talks about how the hero is getting ready to fight.

Refusal of the Call is basically how the hero is refusing the adventure. The hero doesn’t want to go out and fight because he feel like he is not prepared to go out and fight. He is afraid because if he’s not ready or prepared to fight he not self confident about whether he will win or not. Refusal means ‘don’t want to or refusing’ to do something you have to do. The mentor will give him couraging advice if the hero is feeling self conscious about fighting. For example, Luke in Star Wars meets with Obi-Wan Kenobi he explains to him about Jedi and the force. When he continues to talk about it like refuses”.Meeting with the Mentor is a big stage in the book because it's a huge step with the hero because he is getting advice for his biggest challenges overall but he still refuses no matter what he hears he still doesn't want to go.
Crossing the first threshold; the hero will leave the ordinary world to another dimension to explore something new. The new world may cause problems with the hero cause he doesn't know what will it cause or what danger will it brings.A new world will bring new creatures or unknown people u can't trust. The world may come will new challenges like in the movie “Shrek”; he and the his fellow partner donkey had to fight off the dragon to save Princess Fiona”. When going to a new world people may encounter u telling you that you can trust them but you really can't until the time is right when they turn around and hurt
