There has been a dramatic change in the healthcare system and it is no longer a one-way relationship where a physician make decision for the patient. At present, the healthcare system is consumer driven as the information related to health are at the fingertips of many patients who have access to internet and electronic devices. There are several health information websites available that helps to build social support and improve health literary. For instance: WebMD, MedlinePlus, Everyday Health, and so forth. Among available websites, I would recommend the American Heart Association (http://www.heart.org/HEARTORG/General/About-Us---American-Heart-Association_UCM_305422_SubHomePage.jsp) and American Diabetes Association’s website (http://www.diabetes.org/diabetes-basics/type-2/?loc=util-header_type2). Mobile Application Nelson and Staggers (2014) mentioned that the development of mobile applications (apps) based on IOS and Android system have nearly doubled in last few years. Mobile apps are considered an essential mHealth tools for smartphones and tablet mobile devices. Due to the mobile apps, the health based information are easily accessible to patients which can help them understand disease process, influence change in behavior, support monitoring, and promote self-management.
