It is believed that when conducting research, all scientist should have the consent of whom they are researching on. The American Psychological Association has therefore adopted a set of five ethical guidelines that are to be followed when conducting any sort of research, whether it may be small or big. The five principles are, beneficence and nonmaleficence, fidelity and responsibility, integrity, justice, respect for people's rights and dignity. These principles are essential when it comes to conducting research or experimenting because it allows the people to know what is going on around then and what the purpose of the research is. This mentally harmed Truman and therefore the principle of beneficence and nonmaleficence was broken. The people around him were confusing him and therefore it affected him both physiologically and psychologically. The conductor of the research, Adam, was not professional when it came to Truman being in danger and had even caused him more harm. In the same scenario, Adam showed no sign of responsibility when it came to Truman conquering his fear. It seemed as if the true fear within the short film was, Adam not being able to finish his research.
