Criminologist the study of why individuals commit the crimes which they do, and the reason behind the action. Criminologist are those who seek out to unfold and understand the reason crimes are committed looking at ways to prevent crime and to solve the Ancient old saying, which dates back to the Renaissance time, as long as there have been people there has been crime and the need for criminologist. Criminology was founded in the late 19th by an Italian sociologist Cesare Lombroso born in Verona, Italy who is known as the “father of Criminology”. Lombroso a physician and a director of a mental facility and a professor of forensic medicine. Through Lombroso studies he did not agree with the theory that crime was a trait of a person’s human nature, but instead accepted his theory that criminal behavior is associated with a person’s physical characteristics, such as long arms, large ears and a large skull, he believed criminal behavior …show more content…

The job of a criminologist may include, measuring crime and analyzing crime patterns, preventing crime through the formulation of educational and rehabilitative programs, analyzing the criminals role in society and how society and the media reacts to criminals in society, analyze the responsiveness of the law enforcement to crime, and analyze the rehabilitation of criminals and the effectiveness ( Roufa , 2017). The process may also include conducting research, developing theories, investigating crime scenes, and composing reports . In order to be a Criminologists a person must be one who is an exceptional researcher and have a good understanding of statistics and human behavior. A strong background in sociology, psychology, criminology or a related field of study. A bachelor's or master's degree, is required in many states, and a person who has a strong desire to better
