“The American Dream is a national ethos of the United States, the set of ideals (Democracy, Rights, Liberty, Opportunity, and Equality) in which freedom includes the opportunity for prosperity and success, and an upward social mobility for the family and children, achieved through hard work in a society with few barriers.” To me the American dream means the heard working life of humans who work day and night and take any position that’s given to give their kids what they could never have. We should understand as Americans that not everyone has it easy and this is the land of the free. The late-night studies and test we had to take years after years will soon be used and I just never understand why it was necessary to carry around a paper that tagged you as your capabilities. Jobs require so much more than just a GED, they expect more from an American even though we seem to not understand the reason, being that everything is at the touch of our finger tips. If someone asked me what Is the American dream I would tell them hard work and dedication. The first amendment is freedom of speech and religion and I just think that it’s also part of the American dream the freedom to express yourself without feeling bad or doing something wrong is what motivates people to be themselves and be someone to show people that no matter what people said or did you were able to keep climbing and truly be someone. We as humans think that the American dream was what are parents believed was the American dream but never the less everything has changed. The American dream has turned its self into electronics and slowly building things that will keep us from not communicating. To me the American dream is hard work and dedication it means to be a community and stand strong together without judging what hard work is in other people’s eyes. Its chasing after dreams an being able to look back and notice that you didn’t have it so easy. A mother of 4 living on her own managed to raise 4 beautiful intelligent kids all on her own without speaking English and here she is now, my mother.
