When I was younger I would see people on the street or at public events such as parades that were intoxicated, my parents would say they have a disease that causes them to abuse the substance of choice. That because they have that problem they can 't help themselves and if anyone tried to help it didn 't always go over well because they weren 't the same person they once were. I have believed that it could be a disease, they have, as substance abuse does affect the brain. I do know that many people who suffer from addiction also have some form of mental health issues such as depression. My major is Psychology with a concentration in Mental Health, so as a provider in the future, I will be helping those that may be in recovery or have been sober for a while.

When someone abuses a substance their brain changes. They themselves as a person tend to change as well, becoming someone different. In some cases, when they aren’t using they can become sick or show signs of bad depression by laying around in bed all day. The disease starts as a choice which is to use in the first place, but once it starts affecting the brain, it becomes a disease as they cannot stop without having negative effects. Starting can be triggered by certain events that the person wants to escape from, such as a traumatic event that happened to them. These support my argument because my belief has been around those key points.

The audience for this essay would those people that are affected in one way or another. Substance abuse affects the brain in multiple ways explaining why the user can be someone they aren’t while using. I have the belief that addiction could be something other than a choice. ...d more fitting. Peer review helps by having a fresh set of unbiased eyes viewing my words to see if as a reader they make sense and help get the point across. Since the essay would be for others, it 'd be best to have another person 's view of it. I can think its fine, but someone else can see what I can’t.

Allowing someone else to read my essay as a part of the feedback process allows me to write a paper that is more for the audience than myself. When they read it, they can see where I may have added extra information that isn’t necessary and they can point that out. Some papers can be weighed down by excess information. I try to incorporate any feedback given into my papers ' contents. When incorporating it, I take what they said, such as rewording or removal of information and I try doing it. I reread it to be sure it sounds alright and if not I change it again
