The rise in fast food restaurant chains can endanger the health and financial situation of the lives of the world’s citizens. The uncleanliness and all the unhealthy factors result in hazardous conditions for customers. Innocent children can catch an illness due to insanitation when careless employees neglect crucial responsibilities. Obesity and diabetes are primary risk factors one encounters as a result of junk food. Financial issues correspond with frequent purchases at restaurants. Fast food restaurants pose a dangerous threat against humanity.

Blocked arteries is a common symptom of high blood pressure that decreases the amount of blood that reaches the heart, resulting in a heart attack. According to a University of Minnesota School of Public Health report, scientists have observed a Chinese population that have swapped out their healthy fruits and vegetables for fast food. The results were astonishing: of the fifty-two thousand candidates, approximately one thousand four hundred die from cardiac arrest (Reporter). Obesity can be contributed with the rising number of unhealthy fast food chains. These restaurants serve immense proportions full of processed food that is full of calories. A meal, consisting of a hamburger, french fries, and a small drink, contains over one thousand calories. Fast food workers do not think about how their neglect of a certain task will negatively affect one’s life. A study by microbiologists at Hollins University found that forty-eight percent of soda fountains at fast food restaurants contain coliform bacteria, a bacteria found in feces, and eleven percent contains E Coli as a result of employees neglecting their role to properly clean infected areas. Many other active organisms were discovered that are resistant to two of the eleven antibiotics tested. Although the microorganisms do not cause significant harm, they do promote an uncomfortable condition known as gastritis, inflammation of the stomach. However, if one has a weak immune system, the bacteria can pose a more notable threat.
If one does not prepare meals the correct way, customers can fall victim to food poisoning. A study was done in March 2011 on the lack of hygiene and sanitation in fast food restaurants. More than fifty percent of the workers prepare meals ahead of time and fifty percent of the leftovers were poorly supervised (Kibret). Employees are not the only cause for contamination in the working area of fast food.
