Displaced Persons Camps
The Soviets made it possible for Jews to rebuild their lives and move on from the terrible memories they had during Concentration Camps.They made Displaced Persons Camps to put the Jews until they were ready and strong enough to go back home to start over.The Displaced Persons Camps, while not without their problems, did provide a place for Jews to gain back their lives after the Holocaust while the world decided how to assist them. The Soviets were the Jewish peoples savior to begin their new lives.

The Camps
The camps were a nirvana and a necessity for Holocaust survivors.
Displaced Persons camps were “rehabilitation centers.”(Holocaust Museum)
During their takeover, The soviets found remainings of some of the victims like “more than 800,000 womens outfits, hundreds of mens suits, and 14,000 pounds of human hair.”(The Holocaust Chronicle) Concentration camps were liberated in Northern Germany by the British Forces. Close to seven to Nine million jews were taken from their homes. (Texas Holocaust M.) During liberation few DPs died from “exhaustion, disease, and shock of eating food.”(Texas Holocaust M.) January 27,1945-1,500,000 were murdered, and 2,000,000 were liberated in Auschwitz..(The History Place) Over 200,000 were liberated at Buchenwald by American forces.(Holocaust Museum)
Bergen-Belsen was turned into a concentration camp 1943.(Jewish Virtual Library)
Most died of starvation overwork,and diseases.(Jewish Virtual Library) The Holocaust certainly left it’s mark on the world with it’s ruthless, inhuman tactics against the Jews and the Nazi opposition.

...ill hated by people even after everything that happened all the horrible things they had to go through. The DP camps were a great place for all the unwanted people to go because they were accepted there. This situation can apply to many people, have you ever been in a situation so bad you couldn’t do nothing about it? Until one day someone decided that they need to stand up and do something about it. Thats how it was for the Jews they got split from family, all their belongings and dignity were stolen by germans just because of their race. My topic is very important part of the Holocaust because it showed that people cared to stop the terrible things the Germans were doing. The DP Camps need to be remembered because without the camps the Jews wouldn’t of gotten the help that they got.The DP Camps helped Jews to rebuild their lives and get their family’s back.
