Using a gun to defend yourself doesn’t always mean shooting and killing someone. The act of simply pulling out a gun can scare of an attacker. There are accounts where people use their firearm to defend themselves and their home. For example In an article I read on www.nydailynews.com a California homeowner defended himself and his home. The owner heard a commotion at his door late at night. Therefore the man grabbed his gun and went towards the noise. Finding a stranger demanding to be let inside and threatening the homeowner if he were to refuse, the homeowner warned the intruder that he was armed and would shoot if necessary.
