The Crucible I disagree with Hales assertion "No principle, however glorious, is worth dying for." People like Rosa Parks, Thich Quang Duc, and John Proctor died for their beliefs. Many hero's all died for their beliefs, if you believe in something so strongly than you are willing to do anything for that belief. Rosa Parks was a woman that lived in a time when people of color and women faced a lot of oppression. There was a rule set by white people there, not a law, but a rule that African Americans had to sit in the back of the bus while whites sat in the front. Rosa Parks stood up for her beliefs and sat in the front one day. The situation was blown way out of proportion and the cops came and arrested her, although this was not as law and there was no law that was broken, she was sent to jail. She was willing to die for her beliefs; she did not die that day she was put in jail and many people saw the wrong in what had happened to her. People think why wouldn’t she just sit in the back? Why did she have to risk her life for a seat in he bus? Because either way it was oppression and she was standing up for what she believed: her and every other African American should not have to be separated because of color. Thich Quang Duc was one of the protesters that did something brave to have the Viennese Government understand how passionate these protesters were. He was in the middle of an intersection and burned himself to death. His principle was worth dying for, he knew that if he could not like as a happy Buddhist Monk then he will do something to make sure the others around him will one day be able to. Hale's assertion "no principle, however glorious, is worth dying for" is completely overrode by Thich Quang Duc's actions, he truly believed in something and was so passionate about it that he was willing to die for
