Censorship is a barricade to knowledge which blocks many authors and artist works from the world. When someone has something to say about a topic they speak how they feel because it's in our first amendment, but what if we weren't able to say how we really felt. Authors, directors, musicians, and artist are all groups of people who write or show us what's on their minds and they work hard day and night so they can get a message across the world and they will not hold back on how they truly feel. While these people are spending hours making masterpieces it can all go down the drain when one parent finds something disturbing with the work and getting it banned so no one can see it. I have read many books that have been banned in the past and they might have had a couple bad words or gruesome descriptions but its not worth …show more content…

The word censorship has existed more than 2,500 years ago in ancient rome and greece which was used to provide people with guidance. Censorship is a way of banning a book or taking out any controversy parts of a books which can be sensitive to many parents or organizations. Many books can be banned for the simplest things which include racism, religion, vulgar language, or gruesome scenes and other examples. One book i'm surprised that was banned was captain underpants by dav pilkey because i used to read that book in elementary and middle school but apparently many parents didn't like the idea of a man running around in his underwear. This gets me to my next point because many of the banned books are because of parents and organizations who are unhappy with what children are reading. So while some books can have inappropriate scenes or controversy parts it's not the authors fault for it to get banned its older people who feel like the younger generation should not be granted these knowledge at such a young
