Rape is defined “the carnal knowledge of a female forcibly and against her will.”(Siegel,352) . Rape is seen all throughout history and it is still happening today. It is believed that about 15 - 38 percent of rape are reported to officials, meaning about 85-62 percent of rapes go unreported. Most rape cases go unreported due to fear, guilt, and shame. About only 9 percent of rapes get prosecuted and only five percent of those lead to felony conviction; Only six percent of rapist will get a conviction( “Reporting Sexual..”).

Whenever girls go out they are constantly on guard of someone slipping drugs into their drinks; I know from experience my female friends will drink beforehand so they do not drink at parties because of the chance of rape. Often I carry pepper spray when walking at night and letting someone know where I am at at the moment and where I am headed too. I share my location constantly via find my friends on IOS with my mom and close friend so that they are somewhat always aware of where I am. Growing up my parents were extra cautious and I was not able to sleepover at friends houses because of the possibility of something bad happening to me because they are not family and do not trust other households.
