Every one has their own code in which the live by. Sometimes their “code” is more based on their morals or their own individual thoughts on certain things. Without knowing it sometimes we don’t realize that we actually live by a code unless we look at it that way. When you do think more about it, it becomes much more apparent that we do in fact all live by a code for example with certain religions there are distinct ways to behave, and a different approach on life in general. Although the code isn’t just one code any longer. There’s no longer a single code in which all people agree with and live by instead there’s fighting amongst different beliefs and morals. In the medieval times there was indeed a code in which the people and even more so the knights. The code of chivalry was very important in medieval times to the knights they lived by this code every aspect of their life was committed to chivalry. Based on Sir Gawain and the Green Knight and Morte d’ Arthur the code of chivalry governed the knights behavior.

To begin, the code of chivalry is a code that knights in medieval times lived by. The most basic definition of chivalry is honor although it has many elements within an is much more complex. The code of chivalry was the code of conduct for knights of the day. A knight is a special soldier who works specifically for a king. The first element of chivalry is honor the knight lives and dies if necessary for the king his whole life is based around the protection and well being of his king. In conclusion, the code of chivalry was a very important code of the day. Although the soldiers of this time did obey this code the knights of the time did their very best to obey it. They did their very best in fact to live by this code every single aspect of their life was devoted to the code of chivalry. The two texts were very important of learning how knights had the code of chivalry applied to everyday life.
