The causes are almost certainly many and consistent. What seems inescapable is the conclusion that dropping out of school is one of the important factors related to the difficulties of people. The causes of dropping out reveal families in trouble. All too often, families with areas of high pressure are characterized by single parents, lack of parenting skills, and substance abuse. The most common causes of dropping out are money, family, and time management.
Money or lack of it is a reason to drop out of the school. Once you become a student, you will need money for tuition of the school. My rent is $1,000 per month for a three bedroom apartment. This monthly rent doesn't include the utilities, that is, the electric light, cooking gas, internet service which I used for homework and research. All these services are for separate from the rent every month. As for the clothes, here in New York, we have four different types of seasons .This contributes, to a change to different types of clothing. Car fare cost me biweekly $48.00 .This is for two unlimited metro cards so I could go the school every day, to my jobs, and to pick up my kids up from the day care with out spending extra money daily.
Family plays a big role in people dropping out of the school. As a single parent, I put my children's needs above my own. I give them my attention as a loving and caring parent. I also help my kids with their homework. My ex-husband dedicates 40 percent of his with his children's, He also contributes with the household expenses and his share of the housework. When the time comes for any special occasion such as birthdays for any of my family member, I need to be there as part of the family tradition. I need to spend time with the relatives that I have not seen in few years. Weddings in my family are not so often; once my relatives marry, it is for ever. Funerals are the hardest part. For me, it is very hard to attend funerals. This is the only time my family really understands that I could not be at the
funeral. I don't like to say goodbye to anybody that has shared a lot time with me. These are some of the occasions when I cannot be in school.
Students are constantly spending money over the course of four years or longer, on so many things from tuition, to dorm rooms, textbooks, and the basic needs like food and water. Many college students are coming straight out of high school. Some of them had jobs, and others did not. If I knew that I had to spend so much money, on everything, right away. I would’ve started working when I was five. Fortunately, I have parents who pay for my tuition, and help me pay for textbooks, and other things I need. But some people don’t have parents who can support their college education, or if they have paid, the cost might build up, and they can no longer afford to pay for school. So they have to withdraw or dropout. This also goes with a small part as to why I believe that college dropout rates are high, like I said, it gets too expensive for people that they can no longer attend college, without going into major debt. There are many different reasons why students decide to drop out of school, according to Stats Canada “Young men continue to have higher dropout rates then young women. In 2009/2010, 10.3% of young men and 6.6% of young women had dropped out of high school.” (Gilmore, 2010) Men have a higher rate of dropping out of school because they tend to want to work and make money rather than getting their education. Men are better known to not be that involved in school as much as women would and if they have the opportunities to have a job without their education they would opt to do that instead of staying in school because they would rather be making money then getting their education. They may feel that work is more of a priority and that making money is more important. Young women have different reasons than young men to why they may opt to drop out of school. “Young women were more likely to drop out because of personal or family reasons, such as pregnancy or having a young child at home.” (Gilmore, 2010)

Death is part of the circle of life and it's the end of your time on earth; the end of your time with your family and loved ones. Nobody wants to die, leaving their family and missing the good times your loved ones will have once you pass on. I believe that the fear of death and the death of a loved one will hold you back from living your own life and the fear of your own death is selfish.
The tuition pays for a substantial amount of things such as: If there is not any money going towards the school, they are left with weak methods to pay for all of these necessities. Without these requirements, the school no longer be beneficial to anyone. To begin with, if the school does not have any income, then there is no way to pay the professors enough money for what they are qualified for. Because of this, they may be forced with less skilled instructors. Second, a little to no income could result in poor technology within the school. It could even extend to a severe case of no technology at all. Lastly, tuition also covers the maintenance on the buildings within campus grounds. However, the school’s buildings would no longer provide a proper learning atmosphere if there is no money for repairs. Inadequate teachers, poor technology, and unstable buildings are not the best combination for students who are trying to receive a higher education.
Classes today are really expensive, especially with the more classes that the school requires a student to take. According to a 2010 study by the University of California’s Civil Rights Project, “Two-thirds of students at one California’s State University campus weren’t able to get into their required courses.” This means that the students at that school will stay in school for more than four years than they intended. Plus, most students tend’ to take fewer classes than they should, this will hold them back from getting their degree, which cost them more than staying in college for more than four
For some students, dropping out is the culmination of years academic hurdles, missteps, and wrong turns. For others, the decision to drop out is a response to conflicting life pressures -- the need to help support their family financially or the demands of caring for siblings or their own child. Dropping out is sometimes about students being bored and seeing no connection between academic life and "real" life (Furger).
Outliers are extraordinary individuals who didn’t need college to be successful in the first place. In the past it was an honor to go to college, and only the wealthy families were able to send their kids. There is a saying by one of our most famous president William Jefferson aka Bill Clinton “When we make college more affordable we make the american dream achievable” (Clinton). Most of the american kids are not cut out for college.
Even though there are financial reasons that men and women drop out from school, there are other reason as well to why they do it. Sometimes, they hang out with the wrong crowd of friends and make poor choices. They decide to join gangs and leave school because they decide that being in a gang is more important. Students’ dropping out has become a crisis, President Obama said, “It’s time for all of us to come together parents and students, principals, and teachers, business leaders and elected officials to end America’s dropout crisis” (“ President Obama”). There are 7 thousand students’ that drop out of high school that adds up to about 1.2 million each year, wouldn’t it be nice to drop that number and help kids stay in school instead of dropping out of high school(“ President Obama”). Students’ shouldn’t drop out of high school because they couldn’t go to college, couldn’t hold down a job, and would struggle making minimum wage for the rest of their life.
Because of adolescence, they may think that school is “nothing”, it is just a waste of time. Also, facts have been saying that more and more students are being independent related to the school. A good reason that they are independent is that they want to have their own money. However, when we don’t know how to say no and face whatever problems may cause, we often use to drop out of college to avoid difficulties.
Family issues, poverty, and homelessness cause students to drop out of high school as it impacts education by placing stressful obstacles in children’s learning path. A National study found, “Overall, 22 percent of children who have lived in poverty do not graduate from high school, compared to 6 percent of those who have never been poor” (National Study). Lack of educational success can also contribute to throwing in the towel on school. Some students may not be receiving the additional supports to give them success in school. Imagine coming home on the bus after a ten hour day and having your ninth grader ask for help on their algebra. If you possessed the skills, which you likely do not, you may be too exhausted to help. In addition there is still dinner to cook and other household chores to complete. It is a daunting request that you may not be able to comply with. “Family poverty is associated with a number of adverse conditions — high mobility and homelessness; hunger and food insecurity; parents who are in jail or absent; domestic violence; drug abuse and other problem…” (Shonkoff & Garner, 2012 as quoted by Rumberger).
