The reason that I picked Paula is because I remember growing up watching So You Think You Can Dance, and American Idol with my family. Paula did many different things in her life time and still is doing a lot of new things. Abdul is a very talented singer, song writer choreographer, performer, designer, dancer, actor and business woman. She also has a lot of different awards. She is a two-time Emmy Award winner, Grammy Award winner, American Music Award winner, and multi-platinum recording artist. She has gotten these achievements over a span of twenty five years. She won seven MTV Awards for her work with Janet Jackson and has also choreographed for Duran Duran, ZZ top, The Jackson Family, George Michael, Luther Vandross, INXS, Heart and Prince. Paula Abdul grew up in the San Fernando Valley in California. She began taking dance lessons when she was eight. She attended Van Nuys High School. She was senior class president and head cheerleader. After graduating in 1980 she started college at Cal State Northridge majoring in TV and radio. After joining the Los Angeles Lakers cheerleaders she became head cheerleader and choreographer after only a few months. Very quickly, she became widely known as “re-inventing” cheerleading by combining classic cheering with contemporary music and dance in a way that had not been seen before. Abdul eventually dropped out of college to dance and choreograph full time. She was recruited by the Jacksons to choreograph their 1984 "Torture" video, the first in a long list of videos and movies she would later choreograph along the road. She branched out into singing with her first CD "Forever Your Girl" which had not good sales until the single "Straight Up" exploded onto the charts in December 1988 and she has been a popular singer dancer ever since. To add to that she has a star on the Hollywood walk of fame. She has done well for herself, and plans to write, sing, and choreograph for as long as she can. Paula’s dance “nasty” a song by Janet Jackson was created in an interesting way Abdul says “I'm very grateful, because this was really the big start to my career. When I was introduced to Janet, I was told by A&M Records that Control was going to be an important album for her, and when I started hearing demos, I was really, really excited to work with her. I felt like I had a chance here to really create something big for her. It was so inspiring. Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis wrote genius music, and Janet had a really important voice in it. You don't hear 'Nasty' and go, 'Oh, this is a dance jam.' It was a very different kind of song, kind of like how 'Straight Up' was for me: This could define an artist completely, and I wanted to create something that would be signature moves but also define her as being in charge. This video was nerve-wracking for her, because she had never danced with just all guys. But I picked the best in the business, and everything came into place perfectly. I choreographed 'Nasty' —
