Paula Abdul
The reason that I picked Paula is because I remember growing up watching So You Think You Can Dance, and American Idol with my family. Paula did many different things in her life time and still is doing a lot of new things. Abdul is a very talented singer, song writer choreographer, performer, designer, dancer, actor and business woman. She also has a lot of different awards. She is a two-time Emmy Award winner, Grammy Award winner, American Music Award winner, and multi-platinum recording artist. She has gotten these achievements over a span of twenty five years. She won seven MTV Awards for her work with Janet Jackson and has also choreographed for Duran Duran, ZZ top, The Jackson Family, George Michael, Luther Vandross, INXS, Heart and Prince. Paula Abdul grew up in the San Fernando Valley in California. She began taking dance lessons when she was eight. She attended Van Nuys High School. She was senior class president and head cheerleader. After graduating in 1980 she started college at Cal State Northridge majoring in TV and radio. After joining the Los Angeles Lakers cheerleaders she became head cheerleader and choreographer after only a few months. Very quickly, she became widely known as “re-inventing” cheerleading by combining classic cheering with contemporary music and dance in a way that had not been seen before. Abdul eventually dropped out of college to dance and choreograph full time. She was recruited by the Jacksons to choreograph their 1984 "Torture" video, the first in a long list of videos and movies she would later choreograph along the road. She branched out into singing with her first CD "Forever Your Girl" which had not good sales until the single "Straight Up" exploded onto the charts in December 1988 and she has been a popular singer dancer ever since. To add to that she has a star on the Hollywood walk of fame. She has done well for herself, and plans to write, sing, and choreograph for as long as she can. Paula’s dance “nasty” a song by Janet Jackson was created in an interesting way Abdul says “I'm very grateful, because this was really the big start to my career. When I was introduced to Janet, I was told by A&M Records that Control was going to be an important album for her, and when I started hearing demos, I was really, really excited to work with her. I felt like I had a chance here to really create something big for her. It was so inspiring. Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis wrote genius music, and Janet had a really important voice in it. You don't hear 'Nasty' and go, 'Oh, this is a dance jam.' It was a very different kind of song, kind of like how 'Straight Up' was for me: This could define an artist completely, and I wanted to create something that would be signature moves but also define her as being in charge. Hip-hop was born in numerous places: in the neighborhoods, in the parks, playgrounds, bedrooms, bathrooms, a broken home, and even on the street corners. MC-ing and DJ-ing were at the center of this emerging culture, but hip-hop was always bigger than just the music, it was also break dancing and graffiti. Lotta Crabtree was born in New York in 1847, where she spent her first few years living, before moving to Southern California. With her parents Mary Ann Crabtree a upholsterer, furniture industry, and John Ashworth Crabtree a bookseller. Her Family was attracted by the gold rush and they moved so that they could be closer to it. Her father was the first to leave in search for gold in 1851 and Lotta and her mother moved soon after. In 1852 Lotta and her mother moved to California San Francisco for the race for gold. They weren't the richest family so they moved in with their friends that had been living there.Marry encouraged her daughter Lotta to begin dancing right away and enrolled her in dance classes at a very young age. Lotta Crabtree loved acting and performing for people while she was only a 6 year old girl. The Gold rush attracted lots of people to San francisco and that gave her a chance to perform in front of a huge audience. She danced for them and they threw nuggets and coins at her for her amazing dancing. People were throwing money at her like it was nothing and she was only 6 years old. She earned about 400 dollars per show which is an astonishing amount. Her mother collected her earnings and stored them away.This was only the beginning of Lotta Crabtree’s dancing and theater career.
Demi Lovato is a famous singer, songwriter, and actor born in 1992 in New Mexico. Although she was on “Barney & Friends” as a child, most people know her from her years as an actress and an occasional singer on disney channel. She co-starred in the famous movie series “Camp Rock” and also in the television series “Sonny with a Chance.” After these acting positions, Lovato began a career in singing. She has released many albums and has had many hit songs such as “Heart Attack” and “Cool for the Summer.” In 2012 and 2013, Lovato was a judge on “The X Factor” (Wikipedia). Singing is a huge part of Lovato’s life, and she pours her heart and should into her lyrics.

She has an extraordinary story. One day Miley was just a normal girl and what seemed like the next day, a pop star. She was introduced to fame at a very young age and is now still growing up in front of the world. She was born Destiny Hope Cyrus because her parents believed she would achieve greatness (Miley Cyrus Biography). They had a lot of hope and promise for their young daughter. Miley is one of the most successful kids from Disney and now she is rising to fame all on her own. It is hard having everyone watch your every move and being constantly photographed, but she deals with it because she loves what she does. Miley Cyrus has led a very unique life both through her childhood and teen life.
After onwards, she joined modeling which was one of her nicest decision to secure her career path. She has starred in a number of music videos including a music video of J. Cole and Rick Ross. She was gaining fame and popularity through her modeling career and was also featured on MTV's Wild 'N Out. In the early 2000s, she can also be seen in many men’s magazine cover. Some of the magazines that featured her include, Show Magazine, KING Magazine, XXL Eye Candy, The Source, and SHOW Black Lingerie. Although she rose to fame as a model, she didn’t leave her job as a bartender. Diana Ernestine Earle Ross is very influential when it comes to the music industry. To this day, people have doubts about us young people going into the field of music. They feel like making a career out of rapping, singing, or acting is one in a million. Especially, being born and raised in Detroit. Diana has given us hope. She is an idol that many of us look up to. Ross is a woman of great achievement and one day someone with just as much potential as her, will follow in her footsteps.

Houston is most known for her voice that, in my opinion, is still considered extremely iconic and powerful. Houston’s chart-topping single also showcased the type of music that the United States enjoyed and cherished in the late 1980s. This song brings to the surface the anticipation, joy, and free-spirit that the 1980s culture presented to its people, and this hit ties in the importance of music, love, and dancing that stem from the core of Whitney’s pop-hit lyrics. The style of music portrayed in the 1980s consisted of many drum machines, synth-based styles of music, and electronic programming that twisted and manipulated the music into its reputable popular techno/rock characteristics. These characteristics are also seen in Gloria Estefan’s hit, Betcha Say That.
