“ And than, starting on October 12,1940 all the Jewish people in the Warsaw and the surrounding towns were forced to move into one tiny area of the city.” - in “ The Boy Who Fought Hitler”. “ The Boy Who Fought Hitler ” Was about a Jewish boy who fought in the Holocaust and ended up surviving it. And “ Amira’s Song” was about a girl who moved from Syria and has to do a project and was scared to do it, and ends up doing the project. In those two short story and nonfiction piece, the common theme is to accomplish a goal you need to show bravery. In “The Boy Who Fought Hitler” By Lauren Tarshis, Ben and the partisan group showed bravery by getting back at Hitler and doing dangerous stunts. They first, volunteer to go and do dangerous stuff like blowing up train cars that had supplies for the Nazi’s. Amira’s Grandmother stayed in Syria and was living in between a war which was dangerous because someone could have barged in her home and killed her, even though it was a risky move, she had done it because she was living there for a while and it was her home that she loved a lot . Also, Amira was scared to sing in front of other people because she had stage fright, but she sung her heart out because she imagined her happy place: in the living room with her grandmother singing the song together because her grandmother was the only one who she would sing to. To show this point, “ I do want to be a singer, she told herself, and she sat down on her bed knowing it would never happen”.
