The Bible Miniseries is a historical illustration of the various stories of the Bible from the Book of Genesis in the Old Testament to the Book of Revelation in New Testament. It explains the various stories in the Bible very accurately, though some important details are left out. It illustrates the life of the Jewish people from the calling of Abraham to the birth, life and after the death of Jesus Christ.
The film covers elements of the three Abrahamic religions; Judaism, Islam, Christianity. These three religions are basically monotheistic, they believe in only one God, the God of Abraham. The Decalogue is found in the Hebrew Bible, The Quran and the Old Testament of the Christian Bible. One of the ten commandments that God gives is, “I am the Lord your God who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery. You shall have no other god before me” Exodus 20: 2-3 (The Holy Bible, NIV, 2011). This is an indication of the existence of Henotheism among the Jewish people. Easter is celebrated in Christianity to commemorate the death and resurrection of Jesus; they believe that through Jesus’s death salvation was made possible. Jesus was crucified on the cross and according to Jewish customs, his body is embalmed and he buried in a tomb. He rises from the dead on the third day and visits the disciples. He promises to them send a helper and on the Festival of the Pentecost, the apostles receive the Holy Spirit and started speaking in different tongues. Pentecost is celebrated by modern Christians as the day Jesus sent the holy spirit to his disciples.
