The Benefits Of Sprinting

Running a track event such as sprints provides you with different benefits than long-distance running. Sprinting helps develop the quick-twitch muscle fibers in your body, particularly in your legs. In a sense, practicing your sprints is comparable to weightlifting; the more you do it, the more muscle you'll develop, allowing you to improve. A 2012 study from Australia's University of New South Wales found that rapid bursts, such as those in sprinting, can help some people lose weight faster than jogging. Middle distance track events, such as the 800 and 1,000 meter runs, don't give your body the same explosive workout as sprints, but do provide benefits including calories burned, weight loss and the toning of your muscles. As do all distance runners, middle distance runners benefit from the release of endorphin hormones, which help improve mood and lung capacity and increase heart health. Running long distances means you're running at a far slower pace than sprints and middle distance running, but long-distance track events such as the 5,000 and 10,000 meter still provide many benefits. Long-distance runners -- especially marathoners -- benefit from increased bone density, better heart health and improved mood, according to an article by Nam Nguyen, posted on the website of Dr. Ed McLaughlin. Although running at a slower rate might not seem as beneficial in terms of calories burned, a 155-pound person who runs for 30 minutes at just 5 miles per hour will burn more than 280 calories. Phase I — Pre-Planning: In this phase the planning committee is formed and goals for the facility are defined. Phase VIII — Equipment Purchasing: During construction, you should specify, bid and purchase the furniture and equipment identified in Phase II, for delivery prior to your facility’s opening. It will be very helpful for you to have a timeline showing coordinated equipment delivery dates. Phase IX — Facility Opening: Congratulations, you’ve done it! Whether your project involves new construction or renovation, there are big payoffs on more than one level. There are the obvious things like increased efficiencies in terms of space usage, equipment storage, and safety, sanitation and security. Looking at it from a larger perspective, your designs and many of the products you buy or specify for the project will last well beyond the careers of the people who first use them.
