The people of this nation are starting to view their smartphones more important than the men and women all around them, this is resulting in these people loosing personal contact. Not to say smartphones are bad. On the contrary, smartphones are extremely beneficial. A person can do almost anything he or she needs on a smartphone. One of the many benefits of smartphones is the communication. Smartphones allow for almost immediate international communication, or even contact with a person 's family at home as he or she is out with friends. Personally, I have a friend who lives in Europe, and the access to smartphones allows us to connect quite frequently. Having smartphones also allows my parents to keep in contact as my father travels for business several weeks a month. A person can obtain an app for nearly anything these days. I have a friend who needs to know the weather for the week because of his job, and with the smartphone he can easily get an app that allows him to check the weather with ease. From calculators, alarms, social media, and even heart rate monitors. It is all of these reasons, and many more, that attract so much attention, and love to smartphones. However, this love for smartphones has been taken a step too far. Something I have seen on several occasions is this very real and growing addiction to smartphones. This addiction can be seen in classrooms, parks, events, and all other situations in life. There are people refusing to give up their smartphones for the hour and a half of class time, as if it is a treasure they cannot bare to part with. They are valuing a smartphone over education.
