The American Covenant begins when God directs chosen people to this promised land,. His purpose behind this new nation and its covenant was to establish a foundation whereupon His children might fully exercise their agency to choose Christ and His gospel and thus qualify themselves for eternal life.
When we think of covenants, we are reminded of our personal promises we make with our Heavenly Father. We promise to keep His commandments and He promises us blessings. These are the most important covenants, as they help us fulfill the measure of our creation. National covenants offer us the blessings of liberty from tyrants, protection from physical evils,wealth, prosperity, and the ability to use our agency for its full purpose. As they began their retreat, Washington had some men stroke the fires, to trick the English into believing they were bedding down for the night.
