In the article “The Amazing Powers Of Jen Bricker” by Kristen Lewis, and the poem “Can’t” by Edgar Albert Guest, both show to us what Helen Keller is talking about in her quote “Keep your face to the sunshine and you cannot see a shadow.” In the article it gives us many pieces of evidence, but the best piece in my opinion is when Jen’s family always encouraged her to put her mind to, and stick with it. “But Jen says she’s fortunate. Growing up, she felt she could do anything she put her mind to-whether it was playing on the volleyball team or stealing the ball on the basketball court. Jen’s positive outlook was instilled in her from a young age. ‘Can’t’ was never part of her vocabulary. In the bricker house, the word was simply not allowed.
