Considering the advantages and disadvantages of zero hour contract to both the employer and employees, zero hour contract must be banned. A Zero-hour contracts are flexible agreement between the employer and employees. In it, it does not include the number of hours that the employee will be doing. It is a way to making fast and easy money. The way it works is by the employer telling the employee when to come to work. Part of the zero-hour contract includes holiday pay, however, it does not include sick days. In the United Kingdom about 697,000 people are on zero-hour contracts, which is 2.3 of UK’s employment rate. People in different careers are on zero-hour contracts. It is all the way from working in McDonalds to working for a doctor. Even thought many experts may argue, still, there are many advantages to zero-hour contract to the employees. I look at it from Elton Mayo’s point of view, which is in a human relation’s perspective. The power that is employer gained from zero-hour contract is massive. This resulted to the lose of the employees’ voice. They stopped complaining because they can not hear their own voice. But No! zero-hour contracts must stop because the negativity that resulted out of it is extreme. Employees are not treated in an humane way. Employees must get benefits like sick days and holiday pay. People must demand an end to zero hour contracts because only the employers get to gain from it. Employees must stop signing zero hour contract because they are giving up their right to guaranteed work. Employers are taking advantage for too many employees for not enough jobs.
