When one hears the name Bill Gates they proximately think of a Billionaire and Philanthropist, one who has thrived in every challenge life has thrown at him. Gates left a university like Harvard and a set future to chase a pipe dream, which at the time would seem to any man as futile. What 'history' tells the world is that Gates persevered through trials time and again, to single-handedly build an empire known throughout the world as Microsoft. What many don’t know is that Bill Gates had advantages over all his peers (i.e. Steve Jobs) during the course of his ‘odyssey.’ Those recompenses have influenced Gates progress and his eventual triumph as a technology-mogul.
As a child Bill Gates was bred to believe that winning was everything, no matter what the cost. "It didn't matter whether it was hearts or pickleball or swimming to the dock ... there was always a reward for winning and there was always a penalty for losing.” (Manes 18) This led him to want to prosper above all his fellow students, which in turn made his affluent family to transfer him to an exclusive elementary school. Gates’ school bought an ASR terminal and his interest in programming let him to be exempted from his math class to pursue his curiosity, a privilege not given to the typical student. Furthermore, this privilege gave him the opportunity to tinker with the ASR terminal (a device available to few at the time) and hone his expertise. He also hacked into the security system so he could restart the meter that traced computer use (allowing him far more time than any of his peers) and even crashed the terminal for fun. Additionally, when he was caught by the company, his family’s affluence and influence provided him protection. Moreover, the run-of-the-mill sch...

...e had poor social skills and would never have found a need to become a bouncer, and would rather use his intellect to perhaps achieve a success higher then the one Gates has now. But in Gates defense, not many people have his drive to succeed and use everything that has been handed to them effectively.
Time and time again, Bill Gates’ advantages have abetted him to prosper in life and achieve the mantle of success. He was handed a knighthood (an honor only given to people who have ‘worked’ and excelled in their profession) by the Queen of England. Furthermore, when he faced an arrest his affluent family came to protect him once again. Even the time Gates was born was lucky as he come of age subsequently to the start of the Information Age. The story of William Henry Gates III illustrates that opportunity trumps talent by a great margin. Just ask Christopher Langan.
In his writing called Unleashing the power of creativity. He talks about how he has always been an innovator and has always thought about building a better future. He said “ when my friend Paul Allen and I started Microsoft 30 years ago, we had vision of a computer on every desk and in every home which probably sounded a little too optimistic at the time when most computers were the size of refrigerators.” Bill Gates always had big dreams every since 7th grade when what he wanted was so far out of the norm. This shows grit because he never gave up 30 years when he had this big idea and now look today computers are everywhere because of

Inventing Microsoft Windows, a software used by more than 50% of the world population in desktops/laptops, Gates practically owns the field of computer software technology. In the United States v. Microsoft Corp. Supreme Court case of 2001, Gates’ company was accused of becoming a monopoly, engaging in practices forbidden by the Sherman Antitrust Act of 1890. Another lawsuit was filed against Gates accusing him of monopolizing. Both of these cases were ultimately settled, allowing Microsoft to continue as it was. One could debate long and hard over whether Gates’ is the modern-age Rockefeller, controlling an entire industry. Many have tried, and failed, as seen in previous cases. Just as the other “captains of industry/robber barons” did, Gates’ saw an opportunity, took it, and completely exploited it. Whether doing so would be moral or immoral, is an entirely different argument.

Being the founder of Microsoft, Bill Gates had already made millions of dollars while also becoming more and more famous for his work with computers. So it came as no surprise when he took over his father’s previous foundation called the William gates Foundation and renaming it the Bill and Melinda Gates foundation in 1997. Quickly donations were made to many universities and colleges such as the University of Washington. They were awarded a donation of twelve million dollars. The Gates Foundation also contributed two million dollars to the Seattle Area YMCA, twenty million dollars to the Seattle Public Library, and one million dollars to the Tacoma Art Museum. The Gates also devised plans to improve public education as well as attacking global issues. Of course one knows that at one point in time technology was only available for the rich or in other words only the rich could obtain certain information or knowledge that the poor couldn’t. Bill and Malinda gates understood this so they created a second program called the Gates Library fou...

He was so interested in computers he dropped out of Harvard one of the best schools in America to pursue computers. Due to all of Gates knowledge on computers he was easily able to get a job “Gates' first professional job came soon after he and his computer friends wrote The Problem Report Book, a 300-page manual they compiled after going through the garbage bins of Seattle's Computer Center Corporation (CCC) and finding all the programmers' errors. CCC officials were so impressed with the boys that they gave them jobs”(Mcguire 1). Gates was easily able to get a job by just finding errors in a computer software because of how much he knew about computers. Bill Gates past knowledge of computers helped him become who he is

Although Steve and Bill are competitors, there are similarities between Steve Jobs and Bill Gates. Both of them are the most successful CEO’s in the world. Though they were college dropouts, but they still achieved a lot of success in their own way. Steve was a very innovative man. As the English proverb goes by “ Have no fear of perfection - you will never reach it.” by Salvador Dali. No matter how many times he failed, he could develop things from his own idea and turn them into a successful product. In 1979 Apple’s first product was introduced, people like it very much because of its simplicity and innovative ideas. Later on in year 1980, the company showed a tremendous performance, where its share rose by 32% (Messa, 1998). Similarly, Bill Gates was also like that, but just that Steve was in a company which makes hardware prod...

So here I present you the path that gave us the Bill Gates we have today. Firstly, Bill Gates was fortunate enough to be born in a fine and educated family, where his parents were an educator and a lawyer. He had the privilege to all the essential necessities, such as clothing, food, and water sources which many other kids do not have. More than that, his family was wealthy enough to buy him toys and games and other things which would be far too extravagant to others. These small things created a stronger foundation for Bill Gates’
