Theodore “Ted” Bundy was born November 24, 1946 in Burlington, Vermont. Eleanor Cowell was 22 years old and unmarried when she had her child. She gave birth at a home for unwed mothers in Vermont. Eleanor later moved to Philadelphia to live with her parents. Bundy was raised as the adopted son of his grandparents and was told that his mother was his sister. Although, it is believed that Bundy’s abusive grandfather was truly his father. However, there is no complete evidence if Bundy’s grandfather raped his daughter, and inadvertently fathered Bundy. A few years later, Eleanor moved to Tacoma, Washington with Ted. At an early age, Ted started showing unusual interest in macabre. When he was only 3 years old, he became fascinated with knives. He was convicted and received a one to fifteen year jail sentence. Two years later, he was charged for the murder of a Colorado woman. During this case he decided to act as his own lawyer. On the way to the courthouse library, Bundy jumped from a window and made his first escape. He was caught eight days later. In December of 1977, Bundy escaped again. It took authorities fifteen hours to discover he was missing. This gave him time to get to Tallahassee, Florida. On the night of January 14, 1978, Bundy broke into the Chi Omega sorority house at Florida State University. He attacked four female residents, killing two of them. On February 9, he kidnapped and murdered twelve year old Kimberly Leach. This marked the end of his murderous spree as he was pulled over by the police that same February. In July of 1979, Bundy was convicted for the two Chi Omega murders. The evidence came from the bite marks left on one of the bodies, they were a perfect match to Bundy’s.
