Technology's Negative Effects On Child Development

Technology has a negative effect on child development. Because of technology, children do not learn the same way children of past generations did. The overuse of technology from such a young age can lead to mental and physical illnesses in children throughout their lives. In addition technology can remove connection in families that are necessary for healthy child development. Technology will impact today's generations and tomorrow's future.

Child development is strongly impacted by technology from a very young age. Technology is removing important aspects of child development such as family closeness and spending time outside using nothing but their imaginations. For healthy child development children need to spend time out of doors running

(Pogue 2) Although technology can improve the life of older kids and teenagers it still will continue to have negative impacts on developing kids. Children who sleep near an electronic device get about a half an hour less sleep than children do not. Even though they are just losing a little bit of sleep per night it can still impact their ability to do well in school (Pogue 1). Children also spend so much time using technology and watching television they are losing attention spans which will affect their school and they are losing imagination. (Taylor 3) “At least early in their lives, the power to dictate your children’s relationship with technology and, as a result, its influence on them, from synaptic activity to conscious thought.” (Taylor 2) Technology will strongly influence the way kids make decisions from childhood to adulthood. This is important because it influence them to make negative decisions because technology is changing the way a human thought process
