“Did you know that 92 percent of all children aged 2-17 play video and computer games?” Technology plays a huge role in the lives of all Americans, whether it be, a cell phone used for work purposes, a computer to connect and chat with friends, or a video game to keep someone entertained. The real tragedy is technology has been affecting children for a number of years now, and there really is no way to change or stop that.
From the beginning, the whole world revolved around making ones own living, and fixing things on your own, society lived off the land and did not rely on technology. Many children get information that they use to bully others offline either on facebook, twitter, instagram, etc. Also, much of the bullying going on throughout the schools is even cyber bullying: Online bullying. Bullying is not just a means of saying something mean to someone, it goes much deeper than that. Bullying can be physical, verbal, or even hidden. All of these forms of bullying are very hurtful, and should be addressed. Verbal bullying is using your voice to cut someone down and hurt their feelings. It is very easy to be on a headset with others playing a game, get mad and say mean things that you may not mean, but that does not change the way the person feels about what was said. When playing a video game, being on the phone or computer, or watching tv, there is physical activity involved. When people get no form of exercise, all the food they eat sits in their bodies, and is eventually stored as fat. Little to no physical activity to burn some of the food you have eaten could in turn lead a substantial amount of weight gain, or for lack of a better term: obesity. It could also just be that they are addicted to the form of technology and can not leave it alone even if they wanted to. Becoming addicted to something or some activity can be very easy, it is breaking the habit of addiction that is challenging. A child may be facing problems with their peers, or even problems with their home life and they use video games, technology, or social media as a way to escape those problems, and forget about them for a while. Low self esteem can also stem from this, because they feel good about themselves and be someone else while they are on their video game, or social media
