Unless you have lived under a rock for the past 30 years, chances are that you own at least one personal computer or other electronic device. Everywhere you turn, you find an electronic device being used by someone. Technology has been so deeply integrated with our society; some even consider it "odd" to be without some kind of peronal electronic device. For years, new technologies have been arising and improving drastically. To some generations technology is nothing but foreign to them. Children these days are so familiar with how to use technology; they almost start to learn after they start walking. So many people are abusing technology by overusing it and even some, becoming addicted. If technology is going to be used, it should have a positive purpose behind it. Throughout the past five years technology has become a main focus in the classroom and schools. Teachers are beginning to use computers, iPads etc. to help teach every grade and age. It has become so over welling that it could be believed that with all this technology, there is no point to have a teacher. Teachers and schools have learned to rely on technology as a learning approach.

As a student that has taken entire courses on iPads or computers, I can tell you that the former is not the case. Not to mention that methods of maintenance rehearsal, like taking notes by hand, are more effective for recollection of information than staring into a screen. The bottom line is, using technology as a tool for education in the classroom is not necessary because it can inhibit the way students learn material.

Critics may try to repute the use of technology in the classroom but I believe what really matters “is the way we use it, the context that we use it in, and the learners who we use it for” (Chong, 2012).
Technology is Changing Education The best method for improving educational standards is to utilize every tool available, including state-of-the-art technology. Computers and the Internet have expanded the way in which education can be delivered to the students of today. Today's networking technologies provide a valuable opportunity to the practice of learning techniques. Educators are discovering that computers and multi-based educational tools are facilitating learning and enhancing social interaction. Computer based telecommunications can offer enormous instructional opportunities, but educators will need to adapt current lesson plan to incorporate this new medium into all the classrooms.
Technology has spread across the world to become a major factor in day to day life. It is used for work, researching, and entertainment. Technology has already started to replace certain educational objects in schools, but its possibilities are still being held back. People worry about the possible consequences of their children being exposed to technology. However, the benefits easily outweigh the consequences when each of them can be resolved. An increase in technology in schools will improve the lives of the students and the choices they make for their future.
When I become a teacher there is no doubt that I will use computers in my classroom and my students will do activities with computers. It is just the way to do things now. There are so many valuable programs out there to help students learn and to help teachers teach that computers are pretty much a necessity in classrooms. In my opinion for an elementary classroom there should be at least five to ten computers in each room. Without the access to the computers it is hard to take advantage of all the wonderful things a computer has to offer. Even using the internet has a source of information for the students or has a tutorial for students who are struggling. There are so many ways that classrooms will benefit from computers.
Though there are a good deal of positive side effects of technology, and plenty of reasons that it should be assimilated into the classroom, however, where there are positives there are also negatives. There are arguments that using too much technology hinders creativity. Another dispute against a lot of technology use is that it encourages laziness.
