Technology in our lives
Technology has changed the world we live in throughout history. Throughout the last couple decades, cellular devices, iPads, iPods, computers, and most importantly the internet have completely changed the way we interact in society and the way teachers work in school. It is some believe technology to be taking jobs away from humans, while in some cases it may be true it’s also a good thing. Technology has changed the way society looks; there will be no return to chalk boards and writing letters. The 21st century society demands a technologically advanced person. In todays world you need to understand technology, understand the efficiency of it, and accept that it makes our lives a lot easier.

This “information highway”, however, did not truly come to completion until the late 1900s with the introduction of the PC. American sociologist and Harvard professor, Daniel Bell, used the term “telematics” to describe the growing link between telecommunications and computers. The term telematics and the computer in general, "express a new reality and Technology in Society and Education 6 innovation that has the possibility of transforming society in the way that railroads and electricity did in the nineteenth century." (314) The computer has taken the shift towards technology and precedents set by the industrial revolution of the 1800s to a new level. The growth of the personal computer and the use of the internet have forced a shift in society that will never look back. Developments throughout history have happened to ultimately make life easier on humans. Tools to help cut and shape, or lift and move to make certain work more efficient. However, the focus has shifted to tools that do not just make physical labor easier, but tools that “classify and modify information rather merely transmitting it or preserving it.”(314) Computers complete tasks effectively and efficiently so that human error can be avoided.
