Technology in Education
The growing need for computers and other technological inventions has made it a necessity for modern generations to use computers in all aspects of their education. With the continuing advancements in technology, life is now moving at a more rapid speed. Needing computers for everyday activities, such as school and homework, children are starting to use different forms of technology at younger ages. Children as young as age 3 must start using different computer software programs to enhance concepts they are taught in school. By introducing them to the new life skill of computers, it will better prepare them for their life ahead in the new technological era.

However it gets very expensive. Companies like Apple set up programs to help children in all stages of education, providing the technology they would need to succeed in school. Apple conducted a study called “Apple Classrooms of Tomorrow” which provided each student and teacher in 7 different schools with two computers each. One Computer was used for school and one computer was to be used at home (Apple Classrooms of Tomorrow: What We’ve Learned). Providing the students with a computer in all aspects of their lives, contributed to the study to determine if technology should play a role in education. The results by the end of the study provided positive feedback. At the start of the study many people feared that the computers would distract the children or negatively impact their learning. They feared computers would result in children becoming anti-social. Also it was thought that computers would constrict their creativity and discourage the traditional way of teaching. However, at the end of this study the results were the complete opposite. Children in the study actually became better scholars due to the program. The children who used computers became more social then those who did not. They even began to willingly help their fellow classmates when they needed assistance on the computers (Is Technology Making an Impact in Education?). Technology also gives the children different life skills. These newly taught skills would be very useful later in their lives. Having knowledge on how to type, how to research and how to gather information on their own puts these children at an advantage when looking for a job in the future. Having the skills to use a computer efficiently will work to their advantage. Research showed that 92% of all Americans under the age of 60 use a computer in everyday life. 84% of the working class Americans says it is essential to use computers in their working environment (Survey Shows Widespread Enthusiasm for High Technology). However not knowing how to access files, use different programs or type at an efficient speed could possibly result in one not getting a job. Children who have been using computers and different forms of technology from their early years of education will be at an advantage.
