Many music artists strive to sell out a venue. No matter the size, the feeling of a room full of people singing along and dancing to your music is a sensation. Unfortunately, many artists don’t ever get to sell out any venue bigger than their local one. The Staple Center has a long list of iconic performers and even more iconic moments. Built in 1999, every year it has an average of 250 events with over 4 million audience members. With so many different events, the marketing and promotion team never fails to have an audience show up. In the last nine years, Taylor Swift has sold out the Staples Center sixteen times and is currently the only artist to do that accomplishment. The Staples Center even awarded her with a banner that now hangs in the middle of the center. The artists that she brings on stage with her at her shows aren’t all one genre. Lorde and Fetty Wap make completely different types of music with a completely different fan base, but somehow, when they performed with Taylor, the crowds went crazy. Swift and her team using this have not only been able to excite fans, but widen the fan base. Those who typically listen to Fetty Wap are most likely not the biggest Taylor Swift fans, but by aligning herself with his music she is able to widen her market even more. Every night before the show, Taylor Swift does meet and greets with fans that purchase a ticket to do so. She doesn’t just push fans through and take a picture with them, she actually takes some time and talks to them because she knows it will make the experience 10x better and make them want to come back again.
