. Smoking, abuse of drugs, drinking, it’s all abuse to the body. All these things come back eventually and haunt you, but you know what else is abusive to your body? “Tanning beds are literally giving users a killer tan” (Bishop, 2013). The effects of tanning are fatal and many teenagers don’t realize that because the alluring fad of tanning beds are blinding. Many teenagers today, aren’t getting to right guidance, so they don’t understand. Instead of the healthy glow people who tan are trying to achieve, they are instead possibly killing their skin. A federal law against minors who use tanning beds underage, should be enacted, and should be banned. It always comes back to the fact that the United States is a free country and that teens don’t get enough freedom in and out of school. As teens, we are still learning and trying to learn from our mistakes, and the law bans certain things such as alcohol, and drugs to stop us from making bad enough decisions that will ruin our lives forever. Us teens think that we don’t get our fair share in Civil Rights and that we deserve to make our own choices. We are desperate to be accepted and we will do anything to do that. Tanning is another example of the choices that we decide to make could be dangerous. . Over history, tanning has gone in and out of fashion, and many teenagers need proper guidance with the choices they make,which is something they don’t always get. Why do teens do it though? It looks healthy to have a tan, but teens don’t know what dangers that tanning beds have to offer. Sadly, teens are the ones paying the price. About 29% of white high school girls use tanning beds, according to a new study, whose findings have alarmed doct... ... middle of paper ... ...still learning, and tanning is a stupid mistake that could easily be avoided. We need to tell young teens they have a deadly disease that may kill them from tanning and how it’s not worth it. Most importantly, it's high time we treated indoor tanning as what it is, cigarettes for the skin.
