Taking Care of the Children-Personal Narrative
Last year I was able to work with a group to teach others about issues dealing with the children of today. I was approached by a group to put on an eight-hour seminar that concerns children. No one was sure what they wanted except that it would be with a church group that had a day care that operated during the day. I decided to take on the project and began to do my research.
The topic of children brings up a lot of different areas that you can go. At first, I started on a safety lecture that dealt with the home and school type setting. Dealing with automobile safety and bicycle safety. I then looked at issues that were in the local papers. What really is upsetting is the violence that children suffer from. I lectured on recognizing and reporting child abuse and how it related to domestic violence. I wanted to make sure that I did a thorough job, so I contacted the group that asked for the training. They told me they wanted to also know about childhood illnesses, how they contracted them and the general course of treatment. The course was beginning to grow. I still felt that I had a lot to learn. This was a first for me. I had written other courses but this one was new to me. I have two children and I tried to relate it to things that I wished I had known before they were born. I finally looked at the way children learn and briefly discussed learning disabilities and found information on helping to stimulate a child to learn.
As the day approached, I knew that I had just about finished what I wanted to teach. It was going to be a busy day, I had my agenda planned and was almost set. I called the church to find out how many were actually going to attend so that I would have enough materials on hand to give to everyone. I was now in for a big shock. As I was telling the owner of the training agency I work for about the outline, she was calling and letting the daycare know.

I want to share the experience that I got from reading to the little kids in Washington school. This had been my first time doing community service so I was a little nervous, I didn't think that the kids where going to like me. But when I go to the school and saw the lovable little kids I felt much better. When we got into little groups and started reading they started hugging me and reading along. They made me feel good and I was ready to come back next Thursday. This was the greatest experience that I had ever had, I felt like a teacher and it fells great to have those little kids liking you.
On the first evening of service, I was prepared, yet scared that I would say something wrong or the children there would not accept my ideas. When I arrived, the group was small, as promised since it was a Saturday and many of the hospital guests were out with their parents or home for a fun weekend of activities. The children and youth who were there, however, gathered 'round for some of the activities I had planned. First, I made it a point to learn everyone's name which meant that I p...
Firstly, I am a Bay Area native, daughter, friend and sister who deeply cares and thrives off my passion and the connections I make with the people around me. This passion towards the connections and impact I make with people and for people stems from growing up with two sets of relatives, one biological and one adopted. Due to being adopted, by parents sent me to a girls adoption group where I met other girl’s my age and was able to find support for not only talking about my adoption, but dealing with internal and external struggles by obtaining tools to better deal with hardships and to communicate with others. I can honestly say that I am a better person because of the support of the group and I feel that it is a big part of the person
At first, I had a hard time trying to find an older person to interview, because I did not want to interview my family since I’ve lived with them my whole life. While I was getting ready to interview my friend’s parent, I started reading the questions to myself, and I realized that I do not know the answer to them if I ask my parents. I chose to interview my mother because I have never sat down with her and have a serious deep conversation with her. I realized that I am closer to her than my father, but I’m not as close as I thought I was with her, and it broke my heart when I finally realized that. At the age she is, I finally realized that I have been taking advantage of her and I refused to live this way with her. This interview was emotional for both of us, and it also brought us closer to each other. I am so grateful and happy I did this interview with her.
The four baby project was..something else entirely. When I was a freshman I was so looking forward to doing this project I was like “Yay i can't wait to have my fake baby boy, I can't wait to take it with me every where!” Then the time finally came and nothing turned out like like i wanted it to. First, I did not get the gender i wanted and got a girl instead of a boy, second the baby was actually way harder to make than i thought would be, and third my baby was not cute at all (well only a little). In all honesty i feel like there were no good times spent with me and my baby. I had to take her everywhere and it was actually kind of frustrating and even though it was a fake baby it actually caused me and my parents to argue over the stupidest
I enjoyed this experience so much, that I decided to go back to volunteer for Change Point, and will be going there once a week. This experience had the impact it did because I got to connect with the community in which change Point serves and help assist others. By doing this, I gained hands-on experience in which will help me in my future career. I also was able to enhance my skills in being a leader and in communication. The parenting classes that I taught to others not only helped them but also helped me.
I remember the day she born. I was nervous for the simple fact that my life would never be the same. Soon no longer would I be known as just Ayanna, I would take on a new title. A title that I would share with so many woman, and after eight long hours of labor, I would now be known to the world as mommy.
In the entirety of my life I have never met or talked to my biological parents or siblings. I do have parents and siblings; however, they are my family through adoption.I often ask myself, “What features did I receive from each of my biological parents?” or “Do I look anything like my biological siblings?” My sole point of reference is a minimal description of my biological mother. Moreover, I can not and will not know my parents’ names until I turn eighteen. That is the downfall of a closed adoption— the child is usually left in a state of speculation about who shares his or her blood (How does this affect you personally? How much do you wish you knew more about your biological parents?). Furthermore, the parents may also deny the invitation
There was once this girl I knew in first grade. She wasn’t what you would call the perfect child. She used to talk all through class, not do her homework, and lie ALL THE TIME. She knew her parents would kill her if they knew what her life was like in school so she told them lies. She told them she has been getting excellent grades, she was the class and hall monitor, and even her teacher’s favorite student.
This week I have completed my personal activities. I had 3 activities to complete one being Random Act of Kindness, The second being Nurturing Relationships, and the last Taking care of your body. I was glad to see the scores I got, it gave me activities I am passionate about, but also need to work on to better myself.
Childhood is a time when significant events can and will leave impressions on oneself. It is not out of the ordinary that a large event will at least somewhat shape the mind of a child whether they realize it or not. One event that may have altered me somewhat was when I had to move from my old abode of Baileyton, Tennessee to Morristown to live with my grandparents. This was the result of my mother’s eventual passing after a losing battle with Cancer. Experiencing the “real world” so early may have changed how I think about and come to certain conclusions. I do not think this change in my life was necessarily a negative one, as I got to experience a lot of new things that I may have never had the chance to do. Sure, I had to grow up a bit earlier than your usual child, but I also probably reached a stage of maturity before most.
In society today, we are working with families and children are more diverse than ever. We are servicing families and children from so many different traditions, beliefs and values. Every family has their own stories. We will find that families and children
There once was a girl who lived a happy life until the age of thirteen. Everything changed that day because that 's when her mother started emotionally, mentally, and verbally abusing her. The girl wanted nothing more than to be loved by her mother but that was not the case. Her mother thought that she was nothing than a worthless piece of garbage on the street. Every day the girl 's mom had something negative to say to the girl whether it was that she was stupid, worthless, or even someone who nobody wanted around. Every day the girl wished to be accepted by her mother, but she knew deep down that would never happen. The girl battled anxiety and depression disorder caused by her mother 's years of torture and abusive ways. The girl was on
The one topic that was most relevant was behavioral issues, because most of the students in this classroom had behavioral problems and it affect the way they learn. It was great to see the teacher be patience, and it was very insightful to watch how she handle each behavioral problem that arose in the classroom. Another topic that arose was the different types of instruction, but as discussed early in the paper the classroom that I observed was a direct instruction. During the time spent in the school I gained insight on how to have good classroom management, what method on teaching worked the best, how to teach children with needs, and how to better motivate the children to
