Technical Description Table Lamp Introduction: The table lamp is an important feature for most households. In some new homes they only depend on lamps plugged in and synched with the switch instead of the old fashioned ceiling lights. We a will take a closer look at the whole lamp, not just how it will look in any particular room or décor. Lamp Shade The shade is a cream color with a light blue braided rope at the base of the shade. The height of the shade measures 12”. The width at the base is 18 “. The width at the top of the shade is 7”. Then inside the top opening of the lamp shade there are three rods that form the shape of the letter “Y”. From the bottom to the top we first would see the lamp rod coming up through the harp bottom and into the socket cap. The socket cap is a gold in color and is made from a lighter material that bends easily. When you pull the socket shell that is also gold and 2” long you are able to find the mechanics of the socket. We observe two wires that come up through the socket cap and cross each other into an underwriter’s knot. With one wire on each side and matched up to the small gold strips on the interior socket, they use one thermal screw to attach one wire to each side of the interior socket. The interior socket is grooved so the light bulb is able to be screwed into the lamp. The next important feature starts right below the socket cap, the harp bottom. The harp bottom is flat with a small hole that fit under the socket cap. Then both sides are bent at an angle and then straightened back out to have the harp connect with it. The harp is a metal rod that is bent into a shape that resembles a lightbulb. There are two small sleeves that are ½” long and they slip onto the ends of the harp so that when they connect to the harp bottom they can be tighten to secure the two. The top of the harp there is a threaded stud. It is 1” long and there is a screw that is located between two tabs. One tab is located on each side. The very top of the harp is a finial, or fastener.
