“No Scrubs” by girl band TLC, is the internal monologue of a girl while she is being hit on by a man, presumably at a club. This man is not the girl’s type because he is a ‘scrub’ which is basically a guy who thinks he is all that, but in reality is entirely dependent on others and does not work for himself. This man continues flirting with her and she basically lists all of the reasons why she would never date him. This song is absolutely of the most iconic songs released by an all female group. Not only is it incredibly catchy but it has a deeper meaning to it once you look into the lyrics. The girl in the song truly knows her self-worth which is incredibly inspirational. The line “cause I’m looking like class and he’s looking like trash,”
Trina’s intent was to create a song that liberated women from the double standards and stereotypical views placed upon them. Her song however can cause harm to young women that listen to take this song to heart. Instead of liberation, we are moved further down into the hole of degrading and devaluing women. Trina should’ve sent the message that these things were wrong. Instead she endorsed and encouraged them.
Since the beginning of time itself, Television has been one the most influential pieces of media that the world has ever encountered. The beginning days of television depicted stereotypical mothers cooking and cleaning their homes for their husbands and children. Yet, as the decades passed, television took a dramatic turn, leaving the days of drama free entertainment as a vast memory. Now a day, however, when one hits the power on button to Bravo, the screen lights expand to ritzy socialites dealing with their everyday lives as “housewives”. Bravo TV’s hit number one reality television show, The Real Housewives of Atlanta, deals with the everyday lives of modern-day housewives. When speaking of these women and their family life, the reality series shows its viewers that family life in modern times is dramatic, full of misrepresentations of how people are perceived, and that fame comes at the cost of family.
At the end of the show JD says, 'The most important thing is that I

A lot of media such as this song, are thrown into the world and are discretely promoting the welcome of rape. This hurts younger girls, because they feel that this is how you have to act to attract someone. Paula Pagila wrote a short essay about rape, saying, “The only solution to date rape is female self-awareness and self-control. A woman’s number-one line of defense against rape is herself” (Pagila 225). Preventing rape is something that young girls need know instead of focusing on teaching men to not do such actions.
Those three stages are making people realize how the stereotyping works, making they realize how being a girl will not limit people to do something, and making they know how to change the stereotype of ‘like a girl’ insult through the advices given by the girl in the advertisement. Through those three stages, Always wants to change people’s perception about ‘like a girl’ phrase and make it become a great thing. Television network Comedy Central, obviously known for their comedy programs, has a show called the Daily Show which doubles as a news broadcasting program of sorts. The broadcast is hosted by a South African comedian and actor named Trevor Noah. During the episode of the Daily Show following the democratic debate in Las Vegas, Noah and his news team did a post debate analysis where they presented a few of the main topics of the debate as well as their own remarks on each of the five individual candidates. While the Daily Show focused primarily on the satirical commentary of the top news headlines, the content and presentation can be analyzed through Nosich’s Standards of Reasoning to determine if the comedy show could be considered a reliable news source.
...f any obstacles that they might face along the way. By showing that she can have the brains as well as the looks, she encourages young women to try harder to attend high class schools and to understand that with a little bit of extra work they can make it to the top of their area of work. Many women can see this as a trend that can help them achieve anything that they put their minds to. She can increase the amount of women applying for universities and jobs by inspiring them to do more than stay at home as housewives. And though the targeted audience knows that looks aren’t everything, they also know that the image they portray is extremely important in the work environment. However when Michael finds out that his brother was accused for killing the vice president’s brother and put on death row, Michael gave up that future of his filled with opportunity to save his brother. How far would you go for others? Michael got a full body tattoo and got himself incarcerated in order to break Lincoln, his brother, out. He did this for him because he loves his family. Although Scofield is
.... The song “Swagger Jagger” is about somebody who steals somebody else’s style. I found the lyrics kind of full of herself and very self-centered because she think people are stealing her style and declaring hate on them. While Crayon Pop’s song was about inspiring people to have fun. The lyrics to “Swagger Jagger” were somewhat sending a message to all her haters who stole her unique style I don’t think this song sends a good message because it’s essentially telling people it’s alright to hate. There was no real choreography during the entire concert. She just walked back and forth around the stage. There were times when she would start jumping to get the crowd hyped up and shook people’s hand but there was no real dancing throughout the concert. I was not into the performances as much as I was with Crayon Pop. The music was good but it wasn’t as fun and enjoyable.
Jackson’s argument is related to the statements made in The Freshest Kids because of the construction of whiteness, which discriminates against Black culture, devalues and ignores the true meaning of Hip Hop on the basis that it is a Black movement. Through the gaze and the construction of whiteness, Hip Hop loses its place amongst American society because it is negatively tied to African culture and is seen as worthless. However, even when American society starts to acknowledge the existence of Hip Hop, primarily white Americans only look at the physical aspect and become ignorant towards the true meaning; doing a disservice to Hip Hop and African culture. Jackson’s argument holds true and is relatable to The Freshest Kids
“Skyscraper” is an extremely powerful song that addresses many common issues in today’s day and age. It speaks out against all those who discriminatorily put unnecessary burdens on other people. Demi Lovato not only addresses an issue, but she gives strength and confidence to all of her listeners. This is what makes Demi Lovato a role model for all people to emulate.
