The Truth of “The American Dream” My mother took the challenge of coming to the united states as a single mom with the dream of one day achieving success and seeing her daughter not go through what she went. Everybody wants to have a life like an american citizen but not everybody is fit to accomplish the job. U.S. citizens don’t appreciate the great life they have, the free education that it’s being provided, and the environment that they live in. My mom started working at a Mexican Restaurant when she was about 21 years old. Because she was a single mom and she had no family here she had to take me to work. What we do today to our environment is what our kids and grand kids will later on enjoy or what later on make them suffer. A clean environment is essential for healthy living. This is another reason why many people come to the United States. There is more vegetation, people care more for the environment and it is healthy for us and it will be healthy for future generations. Future children will not know that “in the woods, is perpetual youth...we return to reason and faith”(Emerson 897), and that it makes us appreciate life even more. If we don’t teach our children at a young age how important it is to keep our environment clean, they will not accomplish anything good for their society or their own future. Ever since we are born “we are taught by great actions that the universe is the property of every individual in it”(Emerson 899) and that “every rational creature has all nature for his dowry and estate”(Emerson 899). Although this is correct, it won’t be in the future if the human race doesn’t care for its environment. You need good work ethic, no excuses and the determination it takes to do everything in our power to take care of our homes and our community. Achieving the American Dream and fulfilling it, will sure be hard but at the end it will bring you great relief and success in your own personal life, in your kids lives an and in other individual
