Adults and teens are often tired, it’s true. Most of the time they turn to coffee or energy drinks, but perhaps the best method to solve this is something children have been doing for years. Naps have lots of great benefits and get rid of one’s fatigue. Some people may think it is a waste of time; however, if it rejuvenates a person, it is worth it. I believe napping during the day is essential for success because they are good for one’s health and mood, they fix sleep deprivation issues, and help one’s brain and performance. Napping offers lots of long-term health benefits and improves one’s mood. The text, “The Secret Truth about Napping”, states, “After a nap, people tend to be happier and more alert. They do better work and avoid mistakes. Nappers may even have better long-term health than non-nappers,” (source 2, paragraph 10). The aforementioned quote proves people become happier and in a better mood after naps. Isn’t happiness really everything, though? One can enjoy what they are doing and work stronger on it. Plus, long-term health benefits means one gets to enjoy their life with their family and not in a hospital. Become happier and healthier, and more alert by simply taking a nap. …show more content…
The article, “How Much Sleep Is Enough?”, tells, “Studies show that such short-term sleep deprivation leads to a foggy brain, worsened vision, impaired driving, and trouble remembering. Long-term effects include obesity, insulin resistance, and heart disease,” (source 1, paragraph 3). These are all side effects of not getting enough sleep and they are atrocious. One needs to be their best self and live their life to the fullest without these restrictions. A simple ten minutes every few days can solve this. If a human is just not getting enough rest and feels tired during the day a quick nap really
Second, “A tired child is almost not a child but a monster waiting to spoil your plans,” says Lori Bulloch of North Salt Lake, Utah, mother of a four year old, two year old, and a four month old. “It’s worth it for me to arrange my schedule around nap times. a rested child is simply a different child.” Bulloch adds. Children who get a satisfying nap sometime throughout the day will be happier than a child who doesn’t take or receive one.
Would you think naps are good during the day? Yes or no?? Well according to the article In source #2 it states “ The researchers found that napping improves memory, but not alertness”. However, i think that napping is not good and because if it only improved memory and not alertness that's NOT good at all!
“When the going gets tough, the tough take a nap.” This statement by Tom Hodgkinson perfectly describes the solution to the life of the average American high schooler, who wakes up early, rushes to school, and undergoes several grueling classes, only to later participate in extracurricular activities and return home to complete homework. Due to all these activities, only a vast minority of teenagers obtain the amount of sleep they need in a night; Tom Hodgkinson’s quote proposes a solution to this problem. By instituting naptime in high schools, students could simply nap to refresh themselves when the going gets tough, whether that be an excessive amount of homework, an extremely demanding test, or a sports practice that lasts long into the
How come millions of adults take naps? Isn’t napping just for little kids? Wrong. Napping doesn’t only help children; it can also benefit adults too. Napping is like taking painkillers. When you take painkillers, you do not feel the pain that you had earlier. After a while, you forget that the pain was even there and everything goes back to normal. If you do not take the painkiller even though you are in extreme pain, you will suffer and also be distracted by how much pain you are in. The same is with naps. After you take a nap, you do not feel the fatigue you had earlier. You can then continue whatever you were doing before. If you don’t take a nap even though you are exhausted, mentally or physically, you will be distracted and just be thinking about getting sleep. People should take naps to benefit them throughout their day and lives. Naps can boost performance, relieve stress, and prevent obesity.
...ity. Sleeping, as well, is coined by experts as our body’s source of rejuvenation. It is also notable stating that the effects of not getting enough sleep may impact each individual differently, so to further expound on how to roughly gauge if a person indeed has gotten the right amount of sleep, he/she must basically not feel sleepy when he wakes up, and start the day with the right amount of energy while slowly winding down as the day passes as the person slowly approaches bedtime (Peri, n.d.).
It is usually 8 hours, it is fundamental key to survive for every creature. The ability for arousal from sleep is a protective mechanism and also necessary for health. Other side, a nap is a short sleep. Usually 1 hours or 30 minutes, it also plays a vital role in human life. People who regularly take naps usually have a good idea of what duration works best for them. Short nap or day time sleep have both pros and cons, like: • Naps can diminish the misunderstanding in daily routine work like an accident or during performing any task, it restore on the qui vive. A survey by National Aeronautics and Space Administration on sopor military pilots shows that 40 minutes pile increase the percentage of alertness and task performance rate by 100% and 34% respectively.• Naps can increase alertness in the point directly following the sleep and may extend alertness a few time of twenty-four hours s later in the day. • Scheduled snooze has also been good for those who suffering from sleeping disorder like excessive sleepiness or hallucinations, it works as a healthy medicine without any side effects. • According to psychological view, catnap sleep has very benefits. It is like as a mini break and makes the person feel pleasant luxury. To get some liberalisation and more vital forty winks are the best ways
One critical factor in maintaining good health is staying active during the day. Napping can help you get rid of drowsiness during the middle of the day and help you stay active. For example, the article by Maria Allegra called “The Secret Truth About Napping” it is stated that “Winston Churchill, who helped lead the Allied Powers to victory during World War II, slept for at least an hour every afternoon. He stated that a nap could renew a person’s energy.” This statement from an expert shows the author also shares the same idea with me that, napping is a great way to renew your energy during the middle of the day if you didn’t get enough sleep overnight. Getting enough rest is a big factor for having better health and a good lifestyle.
Getting adequate amount of sleep is the basic requirements of every individual. Proper sleep will enable us to function properly and perform our daily activities without feeling lethargic. Sleep is also considered a luxury which you can enjoy after a stressful and hectic day. If you will take proper sleep your body organs will relax and next day they will work properly to fulfil your needs. This is essential to relax your body every day because life is getting tougher with every coming day.
How many times a day does one say they are tired? While walking through school hallways, work places, almost anywhere one can hear someone say, “I am so tired.” Many have routines that start early in the morning and end late at night. Running through the normal routines of school, work and any other scheduled events can eliminate one’s energy. Napping once a day can help the problem of being tired all the time, while promoting health, keeping one refreshed, relaxed and prolonging energy. Even though people have busy lives, they should make sleep a priority and take a nap every day.
Much of society mistakenly believes that each individual needs eight hours of sleep in order to have a full night’s rest. This is untrue because the amount of sleep you need has a large dependence on the many factors that influence healthy energy. Age is a large indicator of how much sleep is relevant to an individual. Studies done by Milner (2008), “Benefits of napping and an extended duration of recovery sleep on alertness and immune cells after acute sleep restriction” show that an adult needs nine hours a day in order to carry out work productively, feel rejuvenated, and maintain contented moods. In contrast, infants tend to need more time to rest their bodies even though they are less active. A young baby spends 2/3rds of their day
Furthermore, there are clear distinctions in the type of naps that are commonly used. Some people may choose to nap to replace lost sleeping time, which is referred to as “replacement napping”, others may want to prepare for an extended period of wakefulness by napping, which is also known as “prophylactic napping”, and a third motivation to nap is described as appetitive napping, when a person naps for pure enjoyment of falling asleep (Milner & Cote, 2008). These three types of naps could apply to the subject of this particular study, which is a college student. College students are subject the enormous amounts of stress and pressure from parents and teacher to get all their work done, perform in the classroom, obtain good grades, etc… and they form a group that could profit largely from napping.
