In the short story, “The Possibility of Evil” by Shirley Jackson the author many symbols to tell the story. One of the symbols to tell the story was ROSES. Miss.Strangeworth never gave any of her roses away, although the tourists often asked her for roses. The roses belonged on many pleasants streets and it bothered Miss.Strangeworth to think that many people would be wanting to carry them away.She was a very stingy old lady who would never give any single rose away. She never gave a rose away because her roses were very special to her. Tourists stopped through the town to admire Miss.Strangeworth’s roses.
