“Fences” by August Wilson is a wonderful and thought provoking play that has so many themes and symbolism woven together but one thing that stood out to me the most is how death, rebirth and spirituality is used the play.
Within the black community there is a very strong sense of spirituality that makes one very much aware of their own morality. So because of that, it’s told that you must act in “God’s good graces” if you want to get into heaven basically.
