The Ethical Issues The first ethical issue that is occurred in Nike Inc. is sweatshop labor. Sweatshop labor defined as a factory that violates 2 or more labor laws. These shop or factory abuse labor to work for long hours at low wages and under poor condition. Nike company has been accused of using sweatshops since the early 1990s. They were heavily criticized by worldwide from labor right activist, the mainstream media from all over the world in its factories. This companies reported had been coerced their employee into working excessive hours in high pressure work environment while not earning enough to meet their basic needs. The private reports revealed high level of exposure to chemicals and resulting their workers having bad health and safety. Nike Inc. also facilitating worker exploitation as they cover the sexual harassment at the factories in Indonesia. Further the information, some report found out that workers alleged that they were physically abused and got fired for taking leave even though they had notes from doctors.The production team of Nike began to respond and monitoring their worker through installation code of conduct known as SHAPE for their factories and they able to create better working environment in their factories. The next ethical issue is aboutNike failed maintain oversight on factories that is subcontracted to produce its goods. Over the past years, this athletic footwear production has moved to areas of the world. Manufactures in foreign country is simply the way to minimal contracts requirement, while keeping low costs production. Nike corporate social characterized as insufficient and generally lacking in any forms of regulation and implementation throughout its global supply chain.
