Sweating And The Body

) High humidity

High humidity hampers the body’s cool-down mechanism. When the outside temperature is near the temperature of the body, the body undergoes changes to cool down, one of these changes is sweating. However, sweat only cools the body when it is able to evaporate on the skin. Humidity creates a damp environment, which prevents the sweat from evaporating and the air from absorbing the sweat. This creates a feeling of heat and stickiness. This can create fatal situations, because the body temperature increases, leading to the body working excessively to cool down, causing the body to lose many necessary chemicals and the water of the body. When the body is dehydrated, the blood thickens, placing strain on the heart, because it must add pressure to pump the blood efficiently. This would also cause the body to overheat, which can lead to heat cramps, fainting, heat exhaustion, and heat stroke. Heatstroke is known to be fatal and is considered to be the most serious form of heat injury (AchooAllergy, 2014).

ii) Excessive sweating

Sweating is an act of the body responding to the signals of the hypothalamus that found in the endocrine system. This is a sign that the body is reacting correctly to its environment, but when the body excessively perspires in a high humid environment (the effects of this are explained above) and is not achieving its goal, sweating can lead to several body issues, including the ones mentioned above. Another possibility caused by excessive sweating is the clogging of the pores, which leads to severe acne, pimples and rashes throughout the body, normally because the skin isn’t clean and toxin-free (WebMD, 2011).

Sweating is caused by the need to cool down in high temperature environments or to prevent overheating. It may also be caused by stressful situations, such as the one the middle-aged woman was in (AntiPerspirantsInfo, 2013).
Flushed skin (under ingumentary system) is also connected to the circulatory system. This is because it is caused by blood rushing to the flushed areas of skin.
Heat cramps can be caused by inadequate consumption of fluids, may it be through excessive sweating or dehydration.
Heat Cramps: painful, involuntary, brief, intermittent and are usually self-limited (Wedro & Shiel, 2013).
