1. Pg.84. This page was one of my favorite pages from the book. I admired how the author started this chapter with this passage, and went on to another story before he finished this one. I liked the way Kamler used imagery to describe the danger Steve was in while his boat was sinking. Finally, the way he ended the passage left me in suspense and was what really made me want to read the book.

The video relates to Surviving the Extremes because in the high seas section of the book, the author shares stories of people’s boats sinking in the middle of the ocean. In the book, one boat ran into a whale, another went into a storm, and the final boat was struck by a sudden burst of wind. All three boats sunk just like the Titanic. The boat that was hit by the wind was a school boat with students and teachers on it and unfortunately there were some casualties, similar to the Titanic. The way the video captured the dishes falling and people falling was very similar to the way Kamler described what happened to the people and supplies on the boats.

3. In conclusion, I enjoyed Surviving the Extremes. Some parts of the book were a little boring, but otherwise it was interesting. The way Kamler incorporated the science behind why things happen in the body the way they do when placed in unusual environments was …show more content…

Surviving the Extremes makes me crave lifesavers. I chose lifesavers because throughout the book, the author talked about different tips for surviving in various places. In addition to survival tips, the author discussed different types of animals that can be used as food in life threatening situations. The colors and flavors of the lifesaver represent those animals and how they can save you in dangerous situations. Also, some lifesavers are sweet and others are sour. This represents the sour times such as when you are in a life or death situation, and the sweet times such as when you are rescued from the dangerous
