Hunting is a really old thing people do to feed their selves. It can be a fun sport for people who have spare time and get bored. If you hunt, there are only certain animals you can kill. People can kill deer, duck, elk, and squirrel. They can also feed yourself by catching fish like catfish, big mouth bass, small mouth bass, and bluegill. When people hunt, you have to get your licenses. Your licenses cost $15.00 for 1 day and that isn’t including deer, elk, turkey, or bear. If you want a 7 day licenses including everything, it costs $50.00. If you are 12-15 years old it costs $10.00, which is the youth hunting. (License and Permit Fees, 1). You also have to take a hunters safety course which is for 1 week during the summer, it costs $13.00 …show more content…
People can catch fish and skin them and clean them off, fry them and then eat them. Then there is deer, which you have to have a license to hunt. People also have to have fishing licenses or a park ranger or gain warden will fine you $75 and $20 more if you are caught with more fish that you are suppose to have.(Penalties for Fishing without a License,1). There are 3 types of fishing limits and restrictions, and they are catch limits, possession limits, and size restrictions.(Fishing limits and size retrictions,1). Catch limits means that you can only catch a certain amount of fish in one day. When you catch your limit, then you better not keep anymore or you will get fined. Possession limits means to target the fishing mortality rate. Then there is size restrictions of a fish, which is the size the fish has to be before you keep it. A fish has to be exactly 13 inches. If your fish is bigger or smaller than 13 inches then people will get fined. Hunting can be a good paying job to go out and hunt for people. People can sell deer meat for a certain amount of money. A pound of deer meat costs around $1.25 to $1.50.(Price Per Pound of Deer Meat,1). Some people take guided tours and go and hunt and pay so much money to hunt on private land. If you take a tour they could be gone from around 1 to 2 weeks hunting. People can also get paid to go and kill deer for people. Money can average from like $100 to $250 for just one deer. If hunting is all year round then people might not go on the same day and someone may not get shot. Your also suppose to wear orange so when you are hunting people have a better chance of seeing you. Almost everyone likes to hunt and kill stuff, like deer and turkey. If you kill a turkey you can fry the meat and it is like the best meat people will ever eat. Squirrel and rabbit taste like chicken, but most things taste like chicken. The guns people use to hunt with is a 12 gauge, 16 gauge, 20 gauge, high powered riffle, muzzle loader, and a 22 riffle. Also if hunting is all year round then it might be able to stop car accidents because there won’t be as many deer if it is throughout all of our seasons. An estimated 1.23 million deer-vehicle collisions occurred in the U.S. between July 1, 2011 and June 30, 2012, costing more than $4 billion in vehicle damage, according to State Farm, the nation’s leading auto insure. The average claim for deer-vehicle collisions between July 1, 2011 and June 30, 2012 was $3,305, up 4.4 percent from the previous year with costs varying depending on the type of vehicle and severity of the damage. Over the last four years, the number of deer-related claims paid out by State Farm increased 7.9 percent, while other claims involving moving vehicles (i.e. first-party, physical damage claims not caused by weather, criminal activity or fire)
Imagine driving through Madison on back roads, when a big group of deer run across the road. Then we just barely make it through without hitting a deer. Shorter hunting seasons can cause more deer to be hit by cars. That’s why hunting seasons should be longer.
Hunting for sport is already legal. Researching the topic on “NCSL.org” I found that hunting is legal in all areas of the United States as long as hunters follow the appropriate regulations. Most jurisdictions decide which specific seasons each year, is best appropriate for hunting in specific areas. These regulations prevent over-hunting according to my source, an article entitled “Hunting Regulations in the

I believe that it is time to make Quality Deer Management a part of every hunters game plan. The benefits may not happen right away but after a couple of years you will have years and years of quality hunting. You not only will have a better hunting experience but you will also have fun implementing Quality Deer Management on your land.
There are many animals that people hunt such as; large game, small game, and water fowl. Some people, if they can afford to go on African hunting trips to hunt like lions and Cape buffalo. The average hunter spends over $1,500 every year on hunting. More than 38 million people hunt and fish. When people order their licenses, the GFP (Game, Fish, and Parks) usually draws for the licenses so some people don’t get their licenses which mean they will get two draws the following year. This means they are more likely to
If bow hunting for deer is something that appeals to you, then the best advice I can give you is to seek out a veteran bow hunter that’s been doing it for years or pay a visit to your local bow shop. These shops are an invaluable resource for the aspiring hunter, you will get way better information from a local hunting shop than you can get from the big retailers
Since the beginning of time man has been hunting animals for food. Even before fire, man needed to hunt, because hunting was the only way to eat. At first man used things such as spears and rocks to kill its prey. As man evolved, they started using bows and arrows. Next came an early model of what we use today, the firearm. It is powerful yet easy to carry around. It puts the animal through less suffering and is a lot more efficient than previous techniques. Hunting was once a necessity, but now it is a tradition, passed on from father to son as a way to spend time together, enjoy the outdoors, and experience what our ancestors went through in hunting their dinner. Since it is considered a sport some think we are killing off the deer population, when in actuality, “While most other big-game species have declined with the spread of urbanization, the whitetail has been able to adapt to its ever-changing environment. Through the efforts of state agencies and conservation groups like Whitetails Unlimited, wildlife officials estimate today’s whitetail population to exceed 30 million” (www.whitetailsunlimited.org).
It is early in the morning; the majestic Elk bugles in the distance. The sun is kissing the tops of the peaks with the most beautiful gold, and painting the clouds rose red. The men and women who enjoy the outdoors whether it is hunting or just hiking help make these types of moments possible. Hunting and the ecosystem is tied closely to conservation of land and animals. The articles of “Hunting and the ecosystem” written by the South Dakota Game Fish and Parks Department (SDGFP), and “Facts and statistics on wildlife conservation” written by Roger Holmes, director of the Fish and Wildlife, touch on how hunting is important in the environment to keep a good balance in the ecosystem. They also point out how hunters do more than any other organization for wildlife and environment. Our country was created by outdoors men who hunted and they passed their knowledge of the outdoors to their kids. Hunting has worked its way down from the generation and we should learn to “pass it on” Hunting is great for the environment and wildlife and should be preserved for the ages to come.
“For us hunting wasn’t a sport. It was a way to be intimate with nature” (Kerasote). Many would disagree with Kerasote’s quote merely because he or she doesn’t see how hunting can be more than just killing of an animal. However hunters don’t just go out, because they enjoy killing animals no there is much more to it than just blood lust. Four out of five hunters I asked said the main reason they go out hunting would be because it is therapeutic. “Nothing like going out on a frigid morning sitting in your deer stand waiting and watching nature, it’s so surreal” (Koch). Nathan, hunter of 30 years, said this after I asked why he chooses to hunt. It may not come as a surprise to some to hear that Missouri placed eighth in the top ten states for
A study showed that it was estimated that 1.23 million deer-vehicle collisions occurred between July 1, 2011 and June 30, 2012 (Insurance Journal). In that small time frame, those accidents cost more than 4 million dollars. During mating and migration season, those numbers rise. One could tell from experience that deer collisions are very dangerous not only for the driver, but for the deer as well.
Hunting is a very expensive sport to get into. From guns, to tree stands, to even hunting clothes, hunting can be costly. On average, hunters spend $1896.00 per year on hunting (LaBarbera 1). Equipment and expenditures alone in 2001 grossed $24,708,970,000 (for all types of hunting) and $10,673,990,535 of that was of deer hunting (LaBarbera 2). These expenditures then “ripple” through the economy generating three times more impact for the U.S. economy. For many communities, hunting dollars keep them afloat. This money made can also be pumped back into funding wildlife and conservation foundations. In good times and bad, hunters set their sights on spending more time in the fields and forests. Even when economic recession and uncertainty over homeland security have the nation and the economy recoiling, hunters continue to aim their leisure time and money toward shooting sports activities. For example, since 1991, when the nation was mired in a similar recession and war, retail sales have grown nearly 17% (adjusted for inflation). Many just do not realize the positive impacts generated by hunters. A recent report released by the Congressional Sportsmen’s Foundation highlights that Americans spend more on hunting equipment and dogs than they do for ski equipment. If that’s not enough, the $2.4 billion in federal income tax revenue generated by hunters
Hunting is a tradition in America. Our ancestors hunted to survive. Today we don’t necessarily do it to survive but we do eat the meat and enjoy the hunt. It gives us time to bond with our friends and or family. Also, if the hunting industry was stopped a lot of people would lose a way to make a living. My mom’s best friend and her father own a 20,000 acre game ranch in Rock Springs, Texas. People go out there for every different hunting season. They come from all over the world and pay money for every animal they take off the property. White tail bucks cost the seasonal hunter $1,500; does are $1000. Exotic animals range in price and may be hunted year round.
The money can go to conservation clubs. There are even multiple clubs who rely completely on funds from hunts. It could also help the local economy because of tourism and money from the hunts. However, “only 3 percent of the money spent by trophy hunters winds up in the hands of local people” ("Studies Show There Are Many Sides in the African Lion-hunting Debate”) If only three percent of the money goes back to the community, then it is not making a large impact on the community. Some also claim that big game hunting draws in money from tourism by the hunters. However, “It made up only 1.2 percent of all tourism money in South Africa and 2.3 percent in Tanzania.” ("Studies Show There Are Many Sides in the African Lion-hunting Debate”) People are claiming that hunters are dragging in money for tourism, but most of the tourism income does not come from hunters. Instead, it comes from people on safaris who truly cherish these animals and do not want to see them go
First, an individual must get prepared for the beginning of the deer-hunting season. Contact your local parks and wildlife organization to find out the rules and regulations for that particular season, the dates for the season, and bag limits. Once you have gathered this information, go to any sporting goods or hardware store to purchase a hunting license. A combination hunting and fishing license usually costs around $55. In preparing for the season, you also need to find a hunting club or lease. When looking for a hunting club or lease, it is important to find an area that has plenty of hardwoods and a water source; otherwise you will be wasting your time. Now that you have found the club or lease that is right for your hunting needs, there are dues that are owed to your club or lease and the clubs or leases own rules and regulations that need to be gone over. Since, the rules and regulations, club or lease, and license are taken care of, you need to figure out what type of equi...
Cold and fresh snow is the type of morning that is be for hunters in Central Nebraska. It’s cold, quiet, and the clean freshness is in the air while the moon is still high in the night sky. Fresh coffee is brewed for the day while breakfast is packed for the blind at the river. This is a typical morning for a hunter anywhere around Nebraska and is usually quite an exciting time. Hunting around the world is always different, whether it’s the weapons used, the style of how an animal is hunted, or the cultural or social background a hunter might have. These weapons can range from firearms like most of the United States uses, to blowguns and spears. The styles also differ from sitting in a blind or walking through fields to running down an animal for more than five hours and over twenty miles. It all depends on their upbringing, availability of weapons and resources, and type of animals hunted.
