In the article “Racism is Poisoning Our Society” the author spoke about, despite what people may think, racism still exists. People are treated different because of the color of their skin. It is not fair for Caucasian people to be able to do something bad and not be penalized in any way, but when a person of color does the same thing it is considered dangerous and they should have consequences, although people of color are not the only people that are receiving this act of racism. Stereotypes have been nailed into our brains and they change our views on people. When some people see others with a hijab on they sometimes get the wrong idea and all they can see is a terrorist. I feel so sad when I think about how messed up society has made us. We have all these stereotypes and they ruin us. We see someone and we think of these stereotypes. I see videos that are comedic and it has this thing called “Racist Glasses” in it. It shows these people before and after putting the glasses on and it is exactly what all the stereotypes make out those people to be. Racism is becoming a joke now. It is so sad to think that people find discrimination and stereotypes funny. People can laugh all they want, but when it comes to them they would be upset if someone was racist towards them. I am not saying that I am an angel and I do not have stereotypes of my own, but I do try hard to push them out of my head. Everyone should try to push the stereotypes that society has shoved into our brains. I believe that my generation is strong. I think that we can work together to make a difference. We are so advanced in technology and we could so easily work with each other. We can use our Internet skills to make a difference. I do not think it would be too hard. It may be a lot of work, but it is not impossible. I know that I would really appreciate a change if I was experiencing the racism that many people experience. I do not want my kids to experience problems with racism because it should not exist by then. My generation can make a change and we should make a change. I hope that something get’s done about racism and I am willing to be part of that
