Marc Brumann once said, “The greatest advancements and gains in health will not come from technology and medical advancements but instead will come from changes in lifestyles”. After reading multiple different articles about sugar and its effect on the human body, I agree with Brumann’s statement. When I read this quote, it makes me think Marc Brumann is stating how humans are in control of their personal health. This leads to the problem of sugar towards humans because some people aren’t making a change about their sugar intake. Sugar is a major leading cause of many bad effects.
After comprehending Brumann’s statement, I have realized that I am one of the many people who sometimes take in more than the healthy amount of sugar, but I also am good about everything in moderation. I do admit that I eat some sort of sugar everyday, but I watch …show more content…

One side is physical. As I mentioned before, too much sugar can lead to health problems. Another side of the triangle is social. This is seen in society today because many teens go out and eat food. For example, a group of teens may go out for ice cream or eat candy at the movies which both have high levels of sugar. People often eat sugary foods at social events. Also, the social side of the health triangle can be seen in today’s society through obesity. Sugar can cause obesity, and many kids who are overweight are often bullied for their size. According to the Obesity Action Coalition (OAC), 58% of high school boys are bullied because of their size. Also, 63% of girls are bullied, teased, or rejected (1). Finally, sugar is connected to the mental side of the health triangle. This aspect of the health triangle can be related to the physical side. Someone’s feelings could depend on how they feel about their body and the way it looks. For example, depression has been linked to diabetes and other emotional issues (2).
