Study Proposal for a Social Studies and Premedical (Premed) Student
As a Social Studies and premedical student, I aspire to lead an international health and development non-governmental organization (NGO). Combining my skills as a physician and practitioner of development, I plan to enhance the health of marginalized, persecuted, and exiled populations. Through direct interaction with government bodies and humanitarian NGOs, I hope to highlight and curb the medical and psychological burdens stemming from human rights violations. Building on my skills as a humanitarian law and refugee tracing instructor, I also wish to train international and indigenous relief personnel to ensure the sanitary, nutritional, and health standards of uprooted populations. Aspiring to bring holistic leadership to the health and humanitarian sector, I must thoroughly understand and know to confront the social, political, and cultural factors linked with poor health. Tina Anselmi-Moulaye’s work as a nurse and nurse-midwife was inspiring to me, particularly in the context of the three days I spent on a Labor and Delivery unit at Peking Union Medical College Hospital in Beijing, China. As a health volunteer, she recognized her passion for traveling and women’s health and had the courage to accept a position with the Peace Corps in Mali (Anselmi-Moulaye 18). She was motivated, eager to learn, and quickly jumped in to help the midwives scrub the babies after delivery. Those personal characteristics enabled her to grow and become more effective and efficient as a global nurse. Addiction is a condition that develops from a simple immoral act or increased dependency on drugs for normal functioning of the body. While it has traditionally been considered as a condition brought by behavioral problems, addiction is a disease of the brain as evident in the findings in neuroscience, genetics, and biological studies. The condition is a disease because of the significant effects it has on the structure and function of the brain.

Have you ever known someone who plagiarized, either unknowingly or intentionally? Have you? It is very to plagiarize, today in a world of technology. Sadly enough, many people don't even know what it truly is, which can sometimes lead to plagiarizing without knowing it. There are many different ways to plagiarize, but all are wrong and unjust. Whether someone does it unintentionally or deliberately, plagiarism is wrong. Plagiarism should be corrected, fixed, and deleted before any damage is done.
We need to find a way to work together and support students from all aspects. We need to value teachers and respect them. We need to stop seeing test scores as the only means to judge how well a student is doing. We need to ban the companies that provide the writers who write for a fee. Instead get back to the basics of guiding students to be the creative and capable thinkers that the future will require. For the majority of students, I am sure that they would write their own papers if they knew how to. Let’s even educate parents so that they can help stop the rapidly growing instances of plagiarism starting as early as elementary school. Teaching children at an early age to think for their selves try their hardest and do their own works would solve a lot of the problems around plagiarism.

. As an aspiring radiation therapist, it is critical to be able to read an ultrasound image especially with respect to treatment planning. It is very important to be able to distinguish the features of a malignant tumour from surrounding normal tissues; to be able to look at an ultrasound image and immediately see the location of a malignant lesion is a lifelong skill. After specifically looking at the role of ultrasound in the diagnosis of cancer of the adrenal gland, one more readily realizes that ultrasound is in some respects invaluable, but in other respects usurped by modalities such as CT and MRI scans. Thus, one must be familiar with all of these different imaging modalities in order to be able to most effectively diagnose, plan and treat a cancer patient.
Addiction is a psychological condition that comes up when a person takes a drug or engages in an activity, which becomes compulsive and interferes with the ordinary responsibilities in life (Leshner, 1997). The addicts in most instances do not know that their behaviors affect others, and that it is out of control. Addiction is a physical addiction, or the biological state, whereby the body adapts to the presence of a drug to the extent that the body becomes tolerant. Because of the tolerance, there is always a reaction when an individual stops the consumption of the drug. However, the majority of the addictive behaviors is not related to the physical tolerance or exposures to cues. In most of the times, people have a compulsive need to use the drugs as a form of reaction towards emotional or psychological stress that they face. Since addictive behaviors are psychologically based, most of the people tend to switch from one form of drug to another.
...schools and I was recently accepted into the Woodring College of Education for spring quarter of 2014. This book has inspired me to try my hardest to make a difference in people’s lives. As a teacher, I would be exposed to students from all walks of lives and cultural backgrounds. In order to meet all of their needs, I will use Farmer’s approach to cooperating with the Haitian beliefs that may not go hand and hand with western medicine. He learned that their beliefs could influence how they get care, and how they perceive him. I will overcome cultural barriers that could be present in the classroom by always keeping an open mind and helping those that direly need it. By incorporating health education and infusing movement in the classroom, I could be part of the public health movement and keep future generations healthy and educated, much like Paul Farmer.
