As the new learning consultant for the department, I'd like to briefly share a few ideas I have that might be able to help our students excel further in their PSYC100 courses. It has been brought to my attention that the students that attend study hall; a quiet atmosphere, have excelled in their course examinations, while some others continue to struggle. I think we may be able to help alter that. There have been multiple studies on the topic of students' study habits, but there was also a study conducted by Gurung at UW, where he studied whether certain study habits were more helpful than others. Of all the seven habits, Begin with the End in Mind (habit two), Put First Things First (habit three), and Think Win-Win (habit four) are the building blocks to a sound, effective lifestyle.

To improve this, I should communicate with others about what am I going to do and where am I going to study, and how I will appreciate the respect they give for my privacy upon studying. I have found some helpful hints while researching that will help me out; these hints consists of, finding an environment that suits me and makes me feel comfortable, but not so comfortable that will put me to sleep. Inform others that the space belongs to me while I study, and avoid areas like kitchen tables or couches, and avoid multi-tasking. I should eat first before I study so that food won’t come to mind when I’m doing my work. And lastly to always come prepared, I need to bring supplies like pens, pencils, paper and many other equipment that I need.
During my 9 years here at Heninger, I learned how to stay calm most of the time as we had to present up in the class. Upon reflection of the UNIV 100 course, I realize there are three primary areas that I learned that will assist me in attaining my degree. They are: time management; software and online tools; and critical thinking. First, time management must play a part to be successful. Therefore, I struck a balance and set priorities in my life that included church, family, work, exercise, and rest (The Holy Bible: New International Version, Mat 6.33; 1 Tim 5.8; Heb 4.10). Without balance, everything falls apart. Therefore, I made provisions to keep everything in the proper perspective and priority. Another discovery were the helpful tools that I put to use. In the beginning of the semester, we as a class learned about the 8 Habits of Mind. We learned about curiosity, openness, engagement, creativity, persistence, responsibility, flexibility, and metacognition. They were all good habits but many of them, I lacked in all honesty. I already came equipped with some of them but they needed a refresher, which this course did give. How I choose to use them while growing as a student is up to me now.
I find this helpful in all classes that I take. Not all teachers teach in the same way, therefore, I need to figure out my studying skills for every teacher I have. In Micro class, I figured out that I needed to pay attention to the material that was covered in the lab, and the class assignments. When I was studying I focused on these two parts of class the most. Of course, I would still reread the PowerPoints and all my class notes. Furthermore, note taking was an extremely important part of this class. I would rewrite my notes so that I was able to have a better understanding of the
The first area I am going to highlight is the thought that you only study alone. Occasionally it is good to sit down by yourself and study. But you should not dedicate all of your study time to being alone. Get together with a group of class mates and start a study group. It is better to work in a group where you can stay focused by working and studying together. The book highlights that student that work together in study groups achieve better scores on homework and test mostly because when you have a question there is always someone there to help you. To overcome studying along all you ned to do is get involved with you class mates. Get some people together and find times to study that all work for you.
In today’s world, education has been a primary preoccupation in order to have a bright future or a decent job. The need of high academic achievements such as college and university degrees is now a symbol of success in life. In order to get those symbols, high academic performance is required, and to achieve success, studying is very important. Consequently, developing permanent studying habits is crucial. Furthermore, the use of study habits could develop characteristics that are in demand at the workplace, such as organization, self-discipline, motivation, trust, etc. In fact, such traits could be the difference when it comes to differentiate a leader and a follower; as a result, companies prefer to hire people with those traits. In education, students have different study habits/skills, which depend and vary between individuals. Some prefer readings instead of attending class, other favour taking notes, some might choose to listen, but in fact, most students choose to use multiple skills in order to succeed. This study will focus on college student’ study skills and their relationship with their academic performance, as well as some factors that impede using study habits.
As a student, I have the worse studying method. Studying for a test is one of my fears. You know how some student can sit in one spot and study the brain out and never get bored. Well I’m nothing like that. I’m that type of student that can seated in one spot for just a few moment and then get lazy and wanted to give up. That something that I want to change about myself. I want to change the way I study so that I can improve my grade and go further on my education. In order for me to change my studying habits I know that I have to make some change in my life and my surrounding. If I’m going to change my habit. I have to have a purpose, activities, and goals. Besides, having knowledge of different learning styles can help students learn about themselves and increase efficiency while studying. Writing skills learned in college are also a powerful tool for both academic and career success. The campus is a great place to find tools to succeed and achieve continued academic success. It is also important to keep academic honesty as a good habit and as a value of integrity throughout college and later on in the professional environment.
One of the more popular areas of psychology is Educational Psychology. Educational Psychology can be explained several ways. The idea is to study theories and concepts from different parts of psychology and apply them in educational settings. These educational settings may occur in different school settings such as preschool. The goal of educational psychology is to create a positive student-teacher relationship. Educational psychology uses five different types of psychology, behavioral, cognitive, developmental, and social cognitive, and constructivist in this research paper I will be briefly discussing each type of psychology listed above.
Success in education is not just instinctive or based on brain capacity, it equally depends on good study habits and the skills one learns and develops from practice through time.
