Although writing in college is tough at a first start, Arrangement is the most difficult part of the writing process because many students have the issue of running out of ideas and they do not know where to put their writing in their paper in order for their essay to be read smoothly. I want to tell you about how I used to arrange my papers during the writing process. In high school, I always had timed writings, so I had to think of ideas fast. That is why I used background knowledge from information that I already learned. However, it was hard for me to think of new ideas to add to my paper due to the fact that all of my writing prompts were timed and no one was allowed to use open book to research any new information, which is why many students …show more content…

In my ENG 111 class at NOVA, we talked about how musical artists arranged their songs in the way they write their music and how their music videos relate to their songs. Surprisingly, I read that rappers use arrangement the same way that we do in a literature class. In Chapter 2 of how to rap, one MC rapper MC Serch stated that, "most stories in hip-hop follow a pattern similar to traditional stories in books, movies, and tv series. They have characters, settings, and a structured plot- a beginning, middle, and end." which is why most artists have a music video right after the release of their songs that visualize a story. I also notice for music in general, not only do artists have a theme that go with their song, but most songs have a repeating hook in every other verse in order to get their point through of a meaning or a theme. Most songs have repetition and a music video to make the audience have an instill memory of their songs in order to make their music sales to increase. One example that we used in class for arrangement was Madonna's song for a girl. At the beginning and towards the end of the song, it contains the hook that states that, "Girls can wear jeans, And cut their hair short, Wear shirts and boots, Because it's OK to be a boy, But for a boy to look like a girl is degrading, Because you think that being …show more content…

It can also be about what is being put in a relationship with something and using literacy terms such as metaphors, similies, analogies, humor, etc. to get your topic or theme through that you want to emphasize to the audience. Just make sure that when you plan out your first draft, you do not have to start free writing on only one piece of paper right away. Instead, try to think of some ideas that you already have from the top of your head. Then, free write some of those ideas on a separate piece of paper that you recently learned and then discuss the same topic with everyone's else's ideas into your own perspective to get a grasp of your story in order to keep the reader interested. Plus, try to write your paper like a story with an exposition, rising event, climax, falling action, and resolution. Do not just write for the sake of writing when you receive a writing assignment. Also, do not tell the audience about everything all at once in the first two paragraphs. Instead, try to ease each idea with transitions and provide at least three or more examples in order to get the reader interested and excited on what they are about to read
