Children’s Literature Analysis The book that I choose to review is The Story of the Pilgrims by Katharine Ross. The TEKS that corresponds this book is 113.13 1A History. The student understands the historical significance of landmarks and celebrations in the community, state, and nation. The student is expected to: explain the significance of various community, state, and national celebrations such as Veterans Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, and Thanksgiving. Summary: The story of the Pilgrims by Katharine Ross it talks about how the Pilgrims arrived to America and what they did. At the beginning of the story it talks about how the Pilgrims were moving to the new world because their King of England didn’t let them worship their own God. They travel to America in the Mayflower ship and went they arrived to land the Pilgrims started to settle in and they created the Common House. Then, the winter arrive and many of the Pilgrims died and when the spring time came the Indians came to visit them. I like how the story begins because it starts out why the pilgrims leave England and then it goes on about how the Pilgrims arrive to America. I also like that most of the information of the book is accurate to what happen in reality to the Pilgrims and the Indians. By stating the facts in the book, it helps the reader know the truths of the Pilgrims and Indians. The images of the book are also helpful for the students that are learning about the Pilgrims and Indians because each image corresponds to the sentences in the page.
