During his lifetime, Steve Jobs worked alongside some of the world's most well-known companies related to technology. From Jobs’ start in technology, he became one of the most developed individuals within the array of technology leaders. Although, these companies helped Jobs along his journey to become widely known. Companies such as Atari, Apple, Pixar, and NeXT were those that helped develop Jobs’ career in technology. Steve Jobs was an exacting visionary whose ideas influenced the world of technology. Initially, Steve Jobs had a slow start entering the technology world. Jobs’ technological knowledge was firstly used within the Atari Company. One of his major accomplishments was his company NeXT. It was on a NeXT computer that the World Wide Web was created, and alongside this, the NeXT computer became a workstation with easy-to-use graphical programming made to appeal more to people (O’Reilly 1). The World Wide Web, created on Jobs’ NeXT computer, brought large amounts of publicity to Jobs and the company NeXT. Eventually, Pixar had success through the movie Toy Story with the guidance of Jobs. When Toy Story released in theaters in December of 1995, it became an immediate success, due largely to not only the graphical design in the animation and technological design but also, the character designs (Jackson 27). Jobs influenced Pixar largely due to the production of Toy Story, and this film alone brought Pixar into a new light. Pixar culminated into a larger, more well-known film industry after the production of Toy Story. Furthermore, Apple and the production of the “i” products were Jobs’ most well-known accomplishments. The “i” products, such as the iMac, iPod, iPad, and iPhone were among Jobs’ best creations in Apple, with iTunes being the largest, selling over ten billion songs by February 25, 2010 (Gillam 84-92). Pixar is still one of the most widely known movie companies. While Jobs had become a billionaire, productions that brought him to reach that height were films such as A Bug’s Life and Monster’s Inc (Morrison 80). Although the films brought Jobs a large amount of money, the people came to love these films, and even in today’s society, the films remain famous. Apple after Jobs had died remained well-known and broadly expressed. The iPhone changed the mobile-phone world, as well as the iPad becoming the first, and most famous, touch-screen computer interface (O’Reilly 42). Through the success of the iPhone and iPad, Apple became widely known not only across the United States but to other countries as well. Apple now is one of the largest technology companies in the world, leaving an imprint on the technology we use nearly every day. Overall, Jobs had influenced the technology world as a whole. Jobs' primary legacy is the company he built over the last decade into the most valuable company in the world, and Apple has profoundly influenced how we all think not solely about technology, but about innovation itself (Gobble 63). With his legacy being built around Apple and Pixar, Jobs has left a major impact on how we use and think about technology today.
