Wonder Woman Empowering Younger Women
The Wonder Woman promotional poster was created by the Warner Bros in 2017. This film is a remake of the 1975 tv series, Wonder Woman starring Lynda Carter. Both the film and the tv series follows the plot that was first introduced by a psychologist and comic book writer, William Moulton Marston in 1941 (New Yorker). Marston first created Wonder Woman to empower young women (Miller). This specific image was used as the cover for the Wonder Women soundtrack that released in June 2017 after the film. This image targets mostly young girls and women, because the main character is a heroine. The image has a very powerful and effective meaning to its audience and it states a simple fact that there was a superhero and she was a woman.
The poster presents a woman with dark hair and bronze skin. She is wearing a short blue skirt, a red tube top (that appears to be metal), armor, and a tiara. It is in all caps and has a simple and clean font. This quote means that the world’s future is in Wonder Woman’s hands and that she can save the world. It puts a powerful thought into young women’s heads; that they are capable of anything. The word “WONDER” is placed at the top of the page in a translucent font. It can make audience think about the enigma of Wonder Woman and her past. Under the Wonder Woman figure the words “WONDER WOMAN” is in gold. Gold can indicate power and is also associated with courage. This allows the audience to make a connection to Wonder Woman and the courage to become anything they want or as Marston would say, “Wonder Woman is psychological propaganda for the new type of woman who, I believe, should rule the world”
